The nano would be better. Even though the moki ring is wider then the evolution..it puts the nossle pretty close to the internal center of the exhaust ring...giving it better distribution..imo.

Thanks Gregg! I appreciate the feedback.
Oh one more thing... I don't see any safety wire on your setup. Do you need some more? That would make me a little nervous when that tubing heats up and could pop off.

Im using viton tubing..which can take the heat and good for gas n oil...and a good small quality zip tye. The viton stays flexable apposed to tygon or neoprene. The tye wrap is black and hard to see in picture with end cut flush. Ive used wire outside before. After 30 flights..all good still. I use them on all external barbs...having 7 gasoline planes with 4 with smoke. Easy to use and more surface area on tube and less chance cutting into tube if done too tight. Since going to viton..I have had no line failures at connections. One draw back..cant see through it to verify fuel flow.
Ill use stainless wire in internal lines that get soaked for slippage. Plastic no good inside tanks. Sorry to be long winded..lol ..but ya asked.

I got my DA120 set up with 2 of these nozzles this weekend and did a test run!!! I pointed the nozzles forward, sortof perpendicular to the exhaust opening. I didn't really have much choice on location because the holes were already drilled in the muffler. Seems to smoke awesome.

I programmed the Sullivan pump for proportional control and set my timer up to come on when the switch is turned on... that way I'll know how long a tank actually lasts. I also plan to dial the pump back (from 100% at full throttle) after I fly some, until I see it making a noticeable difference in the smoke density.

I'm hoping to fly in the next 2 weekends... I'll post results asap!

^^^ That's looking nice Craig! Sounds like you got 1 fan cheering in the background. The neighbors, maybe not so much...

Hey Gregg,
Thanks for the info on the Moki 180 smoke tap. The Moki is going in a CARF SU 31 2.75m due to arrive in about 3 weeks. I will try your suggestions as soon as I finish the plane. I will post a video!!!

SU31 Small world

JC
Small world. I have one of the Carf 31 2.75s. 2 Seasons under its belt. I am running a DA120 on it with 2 KnS canisters and a 3 blade 26 12 beila prop to be on the quiet side. Sorry Crankcase..no injectors on my DAs due to cans, just built in input lines. I pre heat the oil in a copper tube wrapped on one header..then into both. Here she is.

I finally had time to hook up my new Harris smoke pump to the Bad Dog Smoker nozzle and even at 4 oz per minute I now have a good fan shaped spray. Much appreciate all the help!

That looks better daddy, but still a little weak for 4 ounces per min through the nozzle. What is your pump rate at? Don't be afraid to turn it up. Remember, the micro droplets are going to turn into smoke easier than streams from a pinched nozzle. You can also cut your smoke oil mixture with kerosene to stretch and thin your fluid some, and it's cost effective too. The favorite home brew mix is 70/30 kerosene to mineral oil (baby oil).

My pump is still at a very low rate - lots of room left to increase flow. I need to wait until I can test it in a plane before I up the flow. Then I will adjust for max smoke with no unburnt oil. I will be curious to see how much more I can turn it up but this is just a starting point.
