I had a 1.08 FSR on my UCD .60 and it rocked, until the crystal I forgot to tape into the receiver came loose and in became a lawn dart. They didn't have the 1.20 AX back then, but that would have been my choice today, for sure!

I'm flying my 5th UCD; it's hands down the best 60 size glo plane!!!! (IMHO) The 6th is in the box in my basement, awaiting destruction of number 5.
I've used the 91fx on all of them (I'm on my second motor; wore the first out.) The best fuel for this engine is zero nitro, spinning a 15x4 APC. Pulls with authority, very smooth, plenty of power for 3D. Lighter than some of the larger engines mentioned above. Bonus: zero nitro fuel is cheap!!! I use hi-torque servos (JR4721 or FUT3010). Only significant mod was to place the batt & rx inside the fuse about 6" behind the trailing edge of the wing. Cut a hole through the bottom of the fuse and build a batt & receiver mount. Awesome flying plane. Love it. Pete

I had an os 91 fs II in mine at first, and it couldn't hover at full throttle. Soon as I had the loot I put a saito 125 in it. 1/2 throttle on a 16x6 and it would hover as long as i could hold it there. Sloppiest KE ever though...too much coupling, it took inputs on all 3 axes to keep it steady. it was a 1/2 oz. heavy from neutral cg, flew really well but was sloppy as hell in 3d maneuvers.

Saito 125 for mine. As above the plane is horrible for 3d. I used mine for about two months to get hovering down and got rid of it.

Had a 91fx in mine. Made good power but motor was a POS.. Never ran right. It was an early one and had a defective needle valve. Last OS I will ever buy...

I had an OS 91FS in mine. The only way to get it hover was to use 30% which gets expensive. Even at sea level the pull out from hover was marginal.
Pick an engine with more power than the 91FS. |

I had a YS 120 in mine with a 18X5 wood prop. It was the hot ticket. Way over powered and great throttle response. Wore out/crashed 3 of them

The OS 120AX is bad about the fire going out. But if you can keep it running it does a good job
I changed to a Saito 125 and very dependable with the power the same. Use/used a APC 17 X 4W on both. |
