Anyone have one or flown one? Any recommendations for motors/esc/batteries etc.?

Cheers

I have one and it is collecting dust. Lightning 600+ with Align 75A ESC 5-6s 3850 depending on how hot you wish to run it.

I would STRONGLY suggest you look at Gaui Hurricane 550 instead. The upgraded CNC version with stock 1500w motor performs as well as our 9s powered Trex600 and blows away 6s Trex600

How do you think it would perform in non 3D, scale type flying?

It flies. It will do 3d as well. It is a $200 ($250 for arf) heli. If you keep that in mind, it will be ok. I just don't care for the quality. I know they improved it quiet a bit since I bought it. But, I lost interest when the main shaft bent while spooling up. They now have the solid shaft option.

It will be fine in a scale ship.

Well.....I've got one....haven't flown it much lately......but I'm using it for a training platform. I'm new to helis so when the kit is priced right........parts are cheap and readily available.......I can't complain about a thing. Keep in mind....I'm not flying all out 3D....but I love mine.

I'm running the Lightning 600 motor "not plus"
Electron 55/70 ESC
6s1p 4000 mah 15C packs
can't remember what pinion off the top of my head
I'm pulling 10 minute flights at about 75% pack usage.

I went this route because the packs were $150 vs $250 or more for 20C or better batteries. This allowed me to buy more packs up front and when I progress far enough....I'm sure these packs will be junk and ready to pitch.

The v2 kits have stiffer frames as that help with head shake of spool up and down.....and some nice metal add ons if that's your thing.

You can't go wrong with this one......
