How did the maiden go? Have you gotten a final weight?
You had offered me a 30% Carden kit a while back after I put mine in a tree.
I have still not decided what to do with that plane. It is just sitting in the corner right now with it's stuff in the new AW260.
I have just started a new Carden 260 40% build for my primary IMAC plane. I may end up turning the AW into more of a 3D machine when the Carden gets finished.

Mark,

It was really a non-event (maiden) it took two clicks of Rudder and it was hands off. Didn't do much other then Fly the Basic sequence a few times. I'll post a couple pictures for the post that followed yours later, canister, batteries, etc. The CG is perfect. On the intitial take off I Throttled up pretty fast, I thought the DA-85 was going to rip the Wings off the plane, amazing power. A really nice Plane, allot features I like about it.

Robin,

I took pictures of my set-up, which you asked about, I just need to get them off the camera, maybe tonight. My CG is right were I like it, 45 deg. inverted up-line with just a slight arc back to the horizon.

FWIW, I thought I'd post some weight info on the carbon fiber stuff. I have all carbon tubes and CF landing gear"
The stock gear weighs around 13.5 ounces, and the CF gear, undrilled/untouched, weighs 9.6 ounces. There is actually room for some slight weight loss on even the CF gear without affecting the strength - I expect it to finish out at 9 ounces.
The stock tube could be used as a shotgun barrel! It comes in at 9.5 ounces! The CF tube from Graphtech (they now have the proper length for the 75cc's) weighs only 4.5 ounces.
The stab tubes only save about .75 ounces, but I got them anyway...
With that said, you lose almost 10 ounces! Of course, if you are using a stock aluminum spinner, you will drop another 3.5 ounces going CF there, too. My goal is to be under 22 pounds, preferably 21 pounds.

Thanks Nick .......

No, I havn't weighed it yet. Did go with a Carbonfiber Wing Tube, everything else is stock. DA-85 almost rip the Wings off .... I'll weigh it when I get the Engine back.

Dan,

No issues with the Engine, but the Flying season hear is just about over and I wanted DA to make the modification for the hub clearance. And then put it away for next season.

Just found out JTEC makes 2 different size pitts style mufflers for the 85. I ordered the larger muffler. Expect the DA85 to be a little quieter without a noticeable power loss. I don't know much at all, so take that last comment with a grain of salt.

Should have the bird running in about a week. Let you know what the guys/gals at the field think after a few runs.

Need to order directly from JTEC for the larger muffler. Have not seen anywhere else.
Flight report?

Shaun,

Only ran 4-5 tanks of Gas thru it and never really got off of Low Rates. I did a couple low KE passes and little to no coupling, roll rate was even to high for low rates. It should 3D pretty good. My main intention was to set this up for IMAC and start using Conditions and other mix's in my Radio (14MZ), two years with this Radio and I'm only using about 15% of it's ability.
