Default Hitech Servos

I am building a 33% Extra 260 with one servo wings. Is there a difference between putting Hitech 5995tg all around as compared to Hitech 5955's. Is one superior to the other. Thanks

Use the 5955. The 5995 is a good servo for the rudder. I have them on my SD models 33% Yak. Response is great. I am actually using the 5945 on the ailerons. 2 per wing.

I would suggest you not use the 5995. They are robot servos and have some characteristics that make them not suitable for airplane use. Go with the 5955 all around. There are a lot of discussion on the web about why not to use the 5995. Search the FG site for 5995 and you will find a lot of info on this.

The 5995 were designed to handle a higher voltage and therefore put out more torque.

Use the 5955, as these were designed for our giant gas airplanes.

Both can handle the higher voltages and put out greater torque, but in both the heat goes up and the reliability goes down. This is acceptable in a robot, but not in an airplane.

5955 come pre-programmed for airplnes (120 degree total sweep) and has a nice heat-sink case with airplane mounting lugs on it. The 5995 has a robot servo case that needs to be modified or replaced to work in an airplane.

In his fourth sentence I'm pretty sure he meant 5995.
