Just thought i would give you guys some comments here on the World Models cub 1/3 scale cub. I have about 25 flights on mine now and i have a FPE 4.2 installed. Motor weighs around 5 lbs with ign and battery and muffler. It didnt require any ballast up front or rear and i have 2 1950 metal packs installed right at the cg. The only problem i have encountered is the flat metal hinges installed , the pins are getting a little slop in them . At first i thought the actual hinges were coming loose but they are not. I first noticed the black residue being left on the surfaces and now i do have some slight slop on the elevators and rudder . I am not really sure how i am going to fix the problem. I debated on just redoing the hinges with Robart hinge point hinges glued in with Probond . For right now i cleaned the hinges up with alcohol and put a few drops of oil on the pin area will see if that helps.
Other than that problem the plane flys great , i also have Wallace gear on it and it works great . The plane flys awesome with the 4.2 and has good but not unlimited vertical . It slows down real nice for landing using a 24/10 3 w prop. I will eventually get a MSC 24 /8 prop for better downline braking . If you have any questions feel free to contact me for further.

The only reason Full Size planes don't hover is BECAUSE THEY CAN'T!!! And they really wish they could!!! The day will come when they will... (Maybe not yaks.. but something like an Edge'Zilla) and then what will you say!!! |

I got to see Boss's fly, and I curse him for having me hold the cub when he started it. I still can't get over how smooth it ran. If I end up with a 100cc or bigger twin it is all Boss's fault. His twin made my 50cc single look like a paint shaker at home depot. I'm more into 3d/sport aerobatic type planes myself, but that cub is just plain old cool.
We had many regulars come out to the field saying that they thought a full scale was buzzing around when they were pulling up to the field. Mike |

Full size hover in a Piper Cub? I think landing a full size Piper Cub on top of a moving vehicle is about as aerobatic as it gets for these. Now that would be a good trick for an rc cub, real flying skills involved. I saw an rc airplane land on a moving pontoon boat with a flat top on it. That looked much more difficult than doing a hover. Postage stamp landings, yes. Short takeoffs, yes. Hover in a cub?Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Here are a couple of videos of full size airplanes flown by guys in Alaska. Flying like this is fun with an rc cub also. &mode=related&search= &mode=related&search= |
