The flying season has been in full swing for a few months now. I'm sure that everyone has been taking a lot of photos. Lets see them. It's time for the September Photo of the Month contest.

Here is one of mine that I took over the weekend at the D.O.G.S show.

Last weekend there was an aero show in Rioverde, Mexico.
Angelo Lomelì was flying his Carden 37% YAK 54 and lost one main wheel on takeoff. Here is his landing, on hover the airplane was caught by some other pilots.

"Awesome maneuver"???? What???!!! That was ABSOLUTELY STUPID, BRAINLESS, CRAZY, DANGEROUS, LUCKY. It was wet out, ONE slip and who knows what those guys who caught the plane could have lost from that prop. Note how far back the pilot was so he did not get hurt. That was senseless!!!!!! I can not believe I saw it. If he is good enough to hover a plane, he should be good enough to land a plane that has lost ONE wheel. Talk about Darwinism in action

I've seen this done before in person at a contest. The one I was at they carefully planned it and each man was given a job to do. As soon as all the guys had a grip on the plane the pilot shut off the engine. It is a risky thing to pull off, but it can be done well if everyone knows what their doing. At this contest it was an issue of ripping the gear out if he landed. Here, I agree, he put some people at risk for saving a wheelpant

Guys, yes it is dangerous. It made for a cool photo.

That Yak looked like the Huffy Yak the Cheese guy flew at the TAS '06!

Here are my two submissions.....
Picture one was a hover at 200 feet BELOW Sea Level at Death Valley early this year.

Second snap is a picture between flights at an airshow at Big Bear California Airport... 6750 feet ABOVE Sea level!!
