Default Are they any good?

I have been looking at the Dietrich 39% Extra 300LP and 42% Extra 260. Has anybody any experience of how they fly, how well built they are etc. I was looking at the QQS 120" Yak 54, but i have no release date in the UK and want to get my first 40% er before the end of the flying season.

Thanks in advance

Andy

I'm going to move your question into the Giant Scale Discussions forum. I've seen the 260 fly and it looked like it flew very well, but I have no first hand knowledge of it. Hopefully some people have first hand knowledge and can help you out with your decision.

I have seen the 42% 260 fly many times by my Buddy Scott H.

It looks rock solid, and the quality looks great.
I'm sure he will jump in here, but from what I saw they were a great plane!

Default Re: Are they any good?

andy,
i have had one flying for about a month.as far as assembling the arf (in my case) it may have been the worst one i ever had. that canopy holes didn't line up , the blind nuts in the cowl were all full of glue so they needed to be pulled out and re-done, i had to cut off both ailerons because they only had 22 degrees of throw, the gear cuffs were broken, no wheels were in my kit and my rudder came loose first flight. i didn't use the supplied hardware. i thought the bolts for the horns were made of soft metal but i'm sure guys are flying them w/ the stock hardware.

having said all that the plane flies great which mattered to me most.does everything 3d good. only issue might be that at full rudder the plane has coupling . glass work was good as was covering, but it's not ultracote/monokote. plane feels like it flies very light w/ a DA 150
all the issues w/ my kit may have been a one time deal..just don't know
