With that plane, not being a 3D ship, you would be wasting money on the extra cost of the engine and fuel if you buy the Saito 125. I wouldn't go over the Saito 100 (probably stick with the slightly smaller 90 class). If you run 30% heli fuel and run a prop that will load the engine correctly you will never want for more engine on the front of that beautiful bird with or without floats.

As far as the poll, Saito is the number one four stroke on the market (Price, Power, Weight, Dependability, Easy to tune, Looks, Sound, Fuel Efficiency) followed by YS (more power but costs more, likes fuel a tad more, doesnt look as nice, WAY more expensive in most cases, sound isnt bad, a bit touchy to tune), and O.S., well, not much in the line of power to weight, ok in warbirds for the nose weight, not great on fuel but they dont run any better on 30% so the cheaper fuel is fine, not very appealing to the eye (if that really matters), tend to break parts.

Just my opinion, if you dont mind the extra fuel consumption I would go ahead and put the 125 Saito in it, but the 100 will do anything you would want with that size / style of plane.

(I'm not Brand Bashing, just my opinion, I only bash the M***um fourstrokes)

Has anybody checked the price of heli fuel lately,I just offed a ys110 because a good week of flying my profile cost 50.00.I now have a saito 125 running on 13.00 fuel.Love this setup, and now i fell like i get my smoke oil free.I also own a os.91surpass,and remember this is just my 2 cents, that engine is limited to what future projects you might want to try.the 125 offers a much broader range.

i know what you mean, my os91 2s burns gas up,, iv gone through 2 gallons in the last 4-5 weeks.. thats only flying one day a week! hah. im really weary about inverting a 4s.. iv seen nothing but problems with this set up. so i will likly run it on the side, will see i dont have the engine for it yet, hahah the nice thing is i use a 2-4 stroke blend fuel so i wouldnt have to get other nitro for this plane..

the OS 91 has slightly more power than the saito 91, but
I really like the lightweight of the saito

I ran an OS .91 Surpass years ago and had nothing but great performance from it. Started easily for me, it is all about how you prime it. I never used a starter, just bump it backwards against compression. I never had a bad bearing or broken anything, probably burned 30 gallons in that engine.

I flew an OS 1.20 SurpassII (pump) and had a couple of issues with the pump over a 3 year period. Replaced bearings twice. BUT, I burned over 100 gallons of fuel in that engine. Ran inverted fine, 20% fuel, OS-F plug.

Running a four-stroke inverted is no problem. If you think about it, it is more likely to hydraulic lock when upright, since the only way for the excess fuel to make it out of the cylinder is straight up! With it inverted, you can turn the engine one way or the other and blow the excess out. A good glow driver (I use a Radio South driver) will glow even when the plug is flooded, makes starting much easier. OTOH, any 4s engine with an updraft carb is more likely to flood during priming if the engine is mounted inverted.

I have not owned a Saito, but I have seen others at the field with them. My vote goes to OS.

I have owned a few YS 1.20s as well. To me, they were easier to setup, but more to go wrong.

i have OS-91 4s in my corner since i picked them up at good deals from flyers who went to satios or ys for weight savings. These motors have always performed very well for my needs. Those motors have always ended up on fun fly type of birds that with any decent 91 u r not hurting for power, and I do love how they sip glow fuel slowly....

HAHAHAHAA... it wont last long i just figured id have fun for a bit on here .. i was thinking last night maybe the 91 would be better, since i uses smaller prop... i think if i use the 100 the prop would be way huge for scale .

They are both good engines, use the one which will balance the plane the best without adding unneeded weight.
...And contrary to popular opinion, the saitos will run just fine on 10 & 15% fuel, they do not need 20 or 30 to run (but they handle it well)

I've got the OS .91 on a GP Super Skybolt and i love it.

It has been a thoroughly reliable engine, with ample power and very easy to tune.

The OS is heavier than the Saito, so if you need nose weight pick the OS. The mounting dimensions are different with the Saito .91 being smaller. The Saito 100 has identical mounting to the OS and is a drop-in replacement if you need a touch more power than the .91

For a model such as that, try a Graupner Super Nylon prop. I use a 14x7 on mine and it pulls like a tractor.

My OS delivers 8,800rpm with the Graupner 14x7 and 9,200 with the APC 14x7. Top speed is a little higher with the APC but the Graupner seems to accelerate better.
