Hi guys,
I'm getting prepared to assemble my first gasser, I already have the engine (DA-50) and all the electronics needed (servos, batteries, rx, etc). Now I'm in the process of purchasing the hardware (pushrods, ball links, fuel tubing, fuel tank, etc) and I'm wondering how the throttle linkage is done for a DA. I did notice on the throttle arm that it seems to be already threaded for a 4-40 ball link, however got another idea. I've always used a nylon clevis and nylon flexible tubing on my glow throttle arms, and was thinking of going the same way for the DA, as it is stiff enough to work the throttle efficiently but flexible enough to absorb the vibrations and not transmit them to the servo gears. But, I'm not sure if such a setup on the DA carb would be "safe". It's 2-56 nylon clevises and 1/8" OD antenna tubing. Attached is a photo of how I did on a glow profile. If some of you could post photos of your DA-50 throttle and choke (if linked to a servo, as I also plan to do that) linkages it would be very nice!! Even if they're different from what I plan on doing. I'm loooking for just that, knowing how people is doing the linkages.

Nyrod is very similar to what you use and many people use it for gassers. But if I were you, I'd switch to either a 4-40 or 2-56 ball end on both sides of the nylon rod. The gasser has a spring which I like to leave on. It may or may not cause that nylon rod to flex, you can try it to see. You don't want flexing as it adds to sloppy throttle control, not good for advanced flying...or any flying for that matter.
You can also use a 2-56 threaded rod with CF tube over it....or just use the CF rods w/ titanium threaded ends from central hobbies. That's what I used on my last two and they work awesome. No flex at all. Last edited by JoeAirPort; 09-10-2007 at 06:55 PM. |

this is what I use you can get it at TBM, I put one of this on the throtle arm and a ball link on the servo with a 4-40 rod, I really dont like the idea of the nylon rod but thats just me.

The idea behind the nylon rod is to absorb some of the engine vibrations and not transmit them to the servo gears. That has worked great with my glow motors, however if with a gasser it will be another story, then I'll gladly use what's more appropriate.

I use the super nyrod, the black one from Sullivan. I have used it in everything from 50cc to 41% with zero problems. I keep my runs short though. In general 12" or less and I put a couple supports so it does not flex.

I have run that same set up in all my gassers (50, 100, 150 and zenoahs) and I have never had a throtle servo stripped because of engine vibration. just my .2 cents
