Default Extreme Flight YAK 88 is there anything better?

I finally got the $ for my next 30% plane. I'm leaning towards the 88" EF Yak. Is there a better YAK out there in 50c/c class? From what I've read this one looks pretty hard to beat. Let know what you think...

Nobody makes an ARF as well as Extreme Flight. Buy one and you will know why we all rant and rave about them. Nothing better.

Joe, Yea, I KNOW what your opinion is...just surveying the rest of the flying public. Although the guy that replied about a warbird has me thinking. Anyone ever done a water fall to harrier with a Corsair? Just kiddin'!

You can't beat Extreme Flight's airplanes.....they are simply the best on the market. The Hinson's are the best as well.

The 87'' EF yak was the best Yak ever built. Really quite scale. I also have the 88 inch and don't care for it. Personally I'd go for the QQ Yak. Or this one that I have heard is the best value out there and more scale http://ak-models.com/mm5/merchant.mv...ode=GIANTSCALE

Wait till you see what they charge for shipping, for me it's 12 dollars! I think I paid 110 for shipping my 88'' EF Yak. Couple it with the awsome DL-50

just for fun, get the measurments of the full scale Yak and then figure out the scale of the wings and fusalage of the 88'' EF Yak, Your going to be in for a surprise.
Isn't it nice we live in America and our opinions can differ.

Opinion is fine. Opinion based on facts is better. The real Yak has an 8.6m wingspan and a 1.2m cowel. That makes the cowel 13.95% of the wingspan. The EF yak has an 88" span and a 12" cowel. That menas the cowel is 13.63% as large as the span. Wow. Chris was off by a whopping .32 %. Pale rider, get your gun Now the Yak you are talking about has an 87" wingspan and a cowel that is 10.25". So that cowel is 11.78% of the span. Way off compared to scale.

See facts matter more than opinion.

You have an interesting way of figuring the scale of an aircraft. I prefer to take each part and compare it to the full scale plane.

where did you get the figure of 8.6 meters for the wing and 1.2 meters for the cowl? please post the site for us to see. Here are the Yak 54 specs

VNE 450 KPH
VA 360 KPH
Maximum speed @82% engine power 300 KPH
70% Cruise speed 240 KPH
Stall 110 KPH
Wing span 8.16 Meters
Length 6.91 Meters
Aerobatic load factors +9g-7g
Max. T/O weight two pilots 990 KGs
T/O run 170 Meters
Landing minimum 400 meters
Range with 7% fuel remaining 700 KM
Engine M14X or M14P (360 HP) or M14PF (400HP)
Propeller MTV9-260, 3 blade constant speed
Empty weight is 754 KG's add a pilot and fuel for a contest flight and you have very good power to weight

Ok lets talk facts. The wing of the full scale Yak is 8.16 meters, thats 322.83 inches. That makes the 88'' wingspan of the EF Yak 27.4 % of the full scale plane. Now the fusalage. The full scale Yak has a 6.91 meter fusalage, thats 272.04 inches. The 88'' EF Yak has a fusalage of 86 inches or 31.8% Thats nearly 16% off!

Now I'm not sure where you got your figures from, but I'll give you the site where I got mine http://www.yakuk.com/YAK54.asp They sell the Yak, I figure they should know. Here is another that confirms the figures. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakovlev_Yak-54 according to YakUK and wikpedia, It looks like you have some incorrect figures, but please show me where you got them

yes the facts do matter

john
