Congratulations to all my fellow buddies. We are blessed..... A week of solid sunshine! Chances of rain....next to none. We are going to have an incredibly fun and rockin time.
We are led by an "alien" , of sorts, who flys freestyle in his sleep, Kyle Woysnis. In my short 55 years on this planet, I have yet to meet a more humble young man. A positive role model even an old geezer like me can aspire to.We then have John, the "Rooster" Wondra. He crows .... and he flys ! He has saved me thousands of dollars by landing my planes when I was in trouble. The world needs more friends like him.Kyle and John will both be flying Unlimited. Good job guys. Next we have Mr. Michael, "Sleeping Beauty" Carrerio, flying Advanced Another great kid. Mike shows me what dedicated practice can do for you. This kid loves to fly and he loves his plane so much he won't even let his parents touch his plane! In fact, you can usually find him napping under his plane. Ha! Our other Advanced Pilot is Jim Gilbert. I woke one morning, my first IMAC at Medford, to this music, of sorts, that was being belted out! Nothing so strange really, except it was at 4:30AM. I went outside my camper to listen and Jimbo just sang away. I thought wierd, till I later came to realize he was serenading his toy poodle, Harley. It was then, I realizes Jim was completely normal..... This guy, if I had a nickname for him, it would be "Steady Eddie." He flys meticulously awesome....every time. Another great role model to what allot of time on the sticks can do for you. Next Darren Kuhn, flying Intermediate. About a year ago, I would say Darren was OK as a flyer. If you imagined practicing every day, rain or shine, then Darren would fit right in. He now rocks! Perserverence is alive. Congratulations Darren. Mr. Michael Verzwyvelt will fly Intermediate too. It is amaging what just one contest can do to bring people together . (Just kidding Mike!) Mike is from Idaho. We recently flew together in the Tri Cities. This man is blessed. He not only flys beautiful point rolls, but has a kool soulmate in his wife . A fun couple, I look forward to seeing you soon. The Sportsman pilots will be headed up by Tony Thomasian. This kid wanted to fly Freestyle, so he began flying IMAC, as a vehicle to get there. Tony, you rock! Your IMAC skills are fantastic. I can't wait to see you compete in freestyle. You are another great example of good parenting ! You and your dad are an awesome team! Finally, long winded, old, but never leaky, is our final Sportsman pilot, Michael "Rainman" Raines ...me. I am a product of many wonderful people that have mentored and tutored and saved my bacon and that have helped me to see... "your dreams can come true." I appreciate all of you and we are going to have a fantastic adventure in Tucson. Rainman |

We have the ingrediants here of a religion. Mike will be our pastor. Sorry Mike but "Rainman" dont cut it anymore. Its Pastor Mike.
Its hard to ad to anything you said Pastor. All I can say is AMEN! Everything you said is true. I hear people at the shootout are very serious so you had better get mean or you will be eliminated Pastor. Keep in mind all I hear is from the Rooster. But the Rooster knows many things and tells us of the place in the desert where we will get our rearends smashed into the ground on our first time out as its just a learning time finding out what the majestic judges are looking for. Remember if you loose your way in an unknown and are not sure what to do. Just get back in the box and do a SNAP. Thats what I learned from Pastor Mike. Speaking of Mike. Mike is the one to be spoken of. He is the one who has shown true leadership and integrity this year. Thats why I call him Pastor. |

I can now tell my wife that I'm going to "church" with "Reverend Mike" and "Brother Darrin", and "Sleeping Beauty". "The Rooster" is going to get me up on time to be there. Hopefully, I won't be kidnapped by "Aliens" on the way !

Hey Mike, Sorry to hear the nick name you dreaded has now taken hold. Like a cancer it eats at you all day long. I wish we could have done something when there was still time. We caught it too late. Now all we can do is damage controll....
Now I know why you were so anxious before we came into Chinook pass, trying to come up with a name before your cell phone went dead in the pass...You knew the poisen dart was about to penatrate to the deepest parts of your being. You knew the rooster and his minions from Nampa were on the web spreading roomers and pictures of your slumber under your blood red.....writers block...Edge? Anyway, I feel for you bro. Just go to sleep......Its all a bad dream. Your eyes are getting heavier.....heavier......heaviiiiiiiiieeeeerZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ |

Mike, what you need to do is have your mom and dad show about an hour earlier to have your plane ready and to be at the Pilots meeting for you, then you can just fly at the last minute. All refreshed and almost wide eyed! Ha!

Sound like everyday NW weather. Our best season is probably slightly more than your worst unflyable days of the year. We all juggle things just to get to the field. It sure helps out when the weather co-operates too.

Mike, Great write up dude!! We all are truly blessed to be afforded the opportunity to compete in what is though of as one of the biggest IMAC style events in the country. (thank you DA and all of the supporters) I for one feel so very fortunate and am very honored to have the opportunity to represent the hobby for what is really is; good people and the good times, that I like to call LIFE.
I honestly am very proud and offten humbled by my fellow flyers that I have met along this journey and look forward to many more good times to be had as we continue our efforts in this struggle to become who we think we ought to be. Thanks again Rainman/Pastor for the kind words of encouragment for all and may the R/C gods look after you and all at the TAS. Look forward to seeing you all and meeting new friends at the Shootout. Michael |
