Which airframe do you think would be better. Any info on both planes like how they fly, good 3D/IMAC would be very much appreciated.
Trying to decide for the next project

I have flown the 2.6 and it was amazing, just was wondering how the bigger selection of the comp-arf flew.

I got to see Wayne fly his new 3.0 yak today...It is huge. I pulled my 2.6 yak next to it...and it made my Yak look very small...The 3.0 sits big just like the 3.3...It flies very well...tracks straight as an arrow.

One thing I was wondering, does the 3.3 sit higher than the 3.0 or are they the same? From what I have read, the 3.0 is 31.5in. high which give me 4in. of room in the trailer to the bottom of the shelf. C’mon guys, lest get some info on how the 3.3 fly’s

I loved the way my 3.3 flew. It just needed a little more oomph than the 3W 200 provided. I don't like to hover at more than 1/2 throttle. If you can find a ZDZ210 that runs strong with the KS 1090 tuned pipes you will be a very happy camper with the 3.3.
Very psyched to see how the 3.0 flies with a DA 150 or 170 (if it ever shows up) . One of my local flying buddies has one on order.I've seen several of the 2.6's fly and don't see much resemblance to the 3.3. I hear the 3.0 is a scaled up 2.6 vs. the scaled down 3.3 hence my reserved judgement. Send a private message to Mark Trent (Jagerbomb) he has a ton more time on a 3.3 and a 2.6. I would consider him the resident expert. |

CJ,
I thought it better to respond here instead of the PM. The 3.3 is the best plane I've ever flown! It has a very light wingloading and it takes a lot to piss it off. It also uses the blade spar system which is virtually unbreakable. My 2.6 also flys very well. But it is more suceptable to poor flying characteristics if you build it heavy. I'm excited about the 3.0 that is on the way. If I were you I would launch the 3W 200. It's not usable in the 3.3 or 3.0 I have a new 3.3 on my building table right now that is waiting on a DA170. I've leaned a lot about motor placement with my Python. I know I could have improved the performance on my past 3.3 by placing the motor further forward. The 150 on tuned pipes flew the Yak well, it just came up short on verticle snaps and long uplines. The 3.3 is a very slow airframe whereas the 2.6 is quick. Hopefully the 3.0 will fill the gap. Only time will tell. I believe the Yak is an advantage in IMAC. It has no bad tendencies, snaps well, and presents very solidly. I should have the 3,0 in a couple of weeks and I will give a full report on it.

I look forward to reading the full report on the 3.0 when it arrives. From all the info I have received, it seems like the 3.3 is a great flying airframe. Looks like the 200 my dad has sitting around will get sold and maybe when the new DA170 will replace it.Thanks again....

Darn, Jager - I was hoping to get to read your input on your 3.3 Yak with a 3W 170. I understand your decision to hold out for the DA 170 ............ any minute now from what I hear
![]() Personally, I have no patients and have had bliss with my 3W 150's and 157, so I'm going to find out for myself how a 3W CS 170 on KS 1090's will pull that big 3.3 Yak around. I'm going to do my best to keep it light with no frills, bells, or whistles (except the 170 - lol)> From what I've seen, the 3W 170 CS is a 'roid monster, so I'll be moving forward with great optimism ............. and a C&H ignition ![]() Hey Jager. ........ what do you think .... race on the up-line for pinks? It would be a good match! A true 3W v. DA throw down - CC per CC, not giving an extra 6 or 7 to 3W, but a true, equal playing field. Of course, I kid about the titles, but I'll race you for a Bud, anyway

I have the 3.3 Yak with a ZDZ 210. I think thats the perfect engine for it. It pulls it around with authority. It tracks pretty well and 3Ds awesome. Never flew a 2.6 so I dont know about that, but the 3.3 is awesome. Im actually thinking about selling it, its forsale now on FG and RCU.

A friend of mine has a 3.3 and wants to sell it complete with all electronics and a DA-150. I do not think there are canisters on it. Firstly will the plane have enough power? I will be flying it at sea level. The friend tells me the engine has a 32x10 prop on it. Thats all the information that I have. I cannot afford to put another engine in so if the DA-150 wont cut it then there is no point in me purchasing the plane. Please advise as I have no clue.
Second question is, he is selling the complete package for 4500 dollars is this a good price? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |
