Alrighty then!
I'm looking to downsize (and upsize at the same time) my hangar. At the moment I'm trying to get rid of any glow planes I have that use over a .61 engine, and I'm also getting rid of warbirds that I rarely fly, etc. What I'm planning is to stay with small glow planes and get 1-2 larger gas planes (50cc ish), and any warbirds or other scale non-aerobatic planes will be tiny electrics, like GWS size. So what I'm looking for here are .46 size scale aerobatic planes, anything along the lines of Sukhoi, Yak, Extra, Giles, Zlin, Edge (especially) and other planes of that nature. I don't want to spend a lot of money on them, either (sub $150 per plane unless it's a REALLY awesome airframe). I'm really eyeing the Phoenix line of aerobats, including the Decathlon, Giles, Extra, and mainly the Sukhoi (never had one... yet!). The price is also attractive, all are under $130 each, which means I'll probably end up with one of each in the end. I'm also looking at Nitroplanes ARF's, like their Edge and Yak, but I don't know anything about their quality or construction. I know a lot of you guys have flown just about everything out there, so please tell me if I'm missing something!! I'm not looking for kits, only ARF's, and PLEASE don't tell me that I'll only be happy with a profile plane. I'm probably going to order an OMP Katana V2 in the future, but I want to update my scale aerobatic planes first! Nitroplanes kits look like they would be able to handle some light 3D along with traditional aerobatics, due to their mostly light (listed anyway) weights and large control surfaces. HOWEVER, I'm mainly going to be flying regular aerobatics. 3D will be left for electrics, profiles, and the giants. I'm going to try to stay with .46FX, .61FX, and .55AX engines. Any more suggestions? Thanks!

well, it is not scale or cheap but the GP Revolver is an awesome little plane. It calls for 55ax. It is like a mini 25% plane. I put a 75ax in mine. It has crazy power. It comes with spinner and pilot. Nice hardware also.

You're really asking a lot. There aren't a lot of planes that fit your description that are this cheap.
If you don't mind deviating from scale, or economy, the Fliton Inspire is the best flying airplane in its size. Check out my video here: http://www.flyinggiants.com/gallery/...=32614&cat=504 I really doubt you'll find a better flying plane in this size. You may also look at their Extra and Edge. You might also look at Extreme Flight's new 58" Extra 300-E. It's supposed to be electric only, but I've heard of people setting them up with glow engines with great success. There's a video of it on higherplaneproductions.com, and it looks awesome.

When I wrote the original post, I was mainly just trying to update my hangar. So far I've bought a Phoenix Sukhoi that will be flying soon, and also a Phoenix Fun Star (I suddenly realized that I had no 3D planes... LOL). I might try for more expensive planes a little later on. I was mainly checking out Nitromodels selection for the cheaper range... But now Wild Hare is coming out with the baby Edge and Extra 260 models... that will fly great on a 1.20AX... man...

Really, the best thing to do, if you can, is get a 50CC EF Yak. 50CC airplanes are very practical and from what I hear the EF is supposed to be the best. Save up a little bit for a DA-50, and enjoy a clean airplane and cheap flights (glow fuel starts getting expensive once you're much over 90 size).

That's in the works, trust me ![]() Problem is my transportation issues; I drive an Integra and I can only fit one giant scale at time; that's why I like slightly smaller planes, so I can carry 3-4 of them along with a couple of electrics. Maybe I should just get a van... Don't worry though, Wild Hare is based just a few miles from me and I've already been told I'm welcome to come check out the planes. I have my eye on a Sukhoi

I wouldn't include the 61FX in the list, as it weighs almost the same as the 91 and doesn't produce as much power. Maybe fine for a sport or scale model, but for an aerobatic one, you certainly will be better served by the additional power the 91 offers. So, if it was me writing this list, I'd make it: .46 FX, .91FX and .55AX. The 55AX by the way is an awesome motor for it's size.

That's what I keep hearing! I have one on the way.... I think... (bad communication with the seller) so I'll know pretty soon. It'll be going into my Sukhoi, which should be ready within a few days. Right now I'm really looking into a few Edge 540's.... As for the .61FX, I know it's pretty heavy, but it pulls my Cap 232 and Ultra stick around pretty well. The Ultra Stick hovers GREAT on it (which I didn't expect) and the Cap (Kyosho) has very nice vertical. I doubt I'll be getting another one though, because of the pluses++ of the .55AX
