Bad-ass Super Contributer!
|
So, i just got a CHP extra with DA 100. Its a little rough around the edges but is a great flyer, its doing its job well. (teaching me about big flying). Now its time to think of a new airframe for next year. I want to compete in IMAC as well as freestyle, but i can't decide what i want, QQ Python, QQ 102 yak, H9 260. Or any other planes you think are good

If you're thinking about the Python or Extreme Flight Yak you might want to get on the list, I think they are both going to be in high demand and may sell out fast.

I don't own one but have been very impressed with the Dalton 260s that I've flown. If you're looking for an ARF I recommend the Aeroworks Yak over the QQ. Have flown several of both makes and the Aeroworks seems to be a bit more predictable in rolling manuevers and verticals. The QQ does seem to snap a bit better though. None of these Yaks were mine so it could be coincidence that the setups the owners had on the Aeroworks fit me better and that's why I like 'em more. I am not a big fan of Composite ARFs. I've flown several of their 2.6 and 3.0 meter Extras and all but one seemed incredibly unstable in the yaw axis. The one that I liked the most (but still not the best thing I've ever flown) was a 3.0M that had half of the rudder counterbalance cut off and fixed to the stab. The one 2.6M Yak that I got to wring out didn't impress me much either but it was really heavy. Just my opinions. Not trying to start any fights over airframes/ manufacturers.

Wild Hare Extra or Dalton 260! Not to start a brand war but I flew a couple Comp Arf's (even owned one) and would rather stick to a WH,Dalton, Carden.

If your fairly new to giant scale, and dont build or have the means to have it built, I would suggest AEROWORKS 260 or Yak, they very good quality ARF's and they are Quick Builds, so you will get in the air ALOT sooner to hone your skills. I have a QQ Yak, and the assembly was a nightmare, but once it was airborne and trimmed, it flies like its on rails, I have owwned AW's QB 260 and friends have had 2 and a yak, and they are all good choices, and they all have Cardens too, but use those for competition. The one friend w/ the Yak, had that same CHP Extra b4 it, and he says he likes the AW Yak much better than the CHP Extra. Its like the big 3 in vehicles dude, look at em all and make the best choice for you. in todays market , its kinda hard to go wrong, just remember, you get what u pay for..... GOOD LUCK...
