I just finished my Composite-ARF EXTRA 330L 2.3m with MVVS 58 and KS Header and Canister.
The specification ---------------- MVVS 58 KS header and canitser - Germany JR 8711 x 2 for Aileron JR 8711 x 2 for Elevator JR 8711 x 2 for Rudder (I like high torque on this position for 3D) HITEC 325HB for choke servo HITEC 325HB for throttle servo Battery for receiver and servo - FROMECO Li-Ion 7.4 volts 5200 mAh - FROMECO Badger switch Pin-Flag - FROMECO Adjustable voltage regulator 6 volts Battery for Ignition - FROMECO Li-Ion 7.4 volts 2600 mAh (ignition can use 6.0 - 8.4 volts) - JR heavy duty switch DUBRO 24 oz. Virtual cockpit Litepilot - Bob 4" CF PETE spinner MENZ prop 24 x 8 Break in engine on the plane on ground around 2 gallons, got max speed at 7000 rpm. This engine is very very easy to start compare to other engines I have used like 3W, ZDZ, DL, DA. I am concerning about the bettery set for JR 8711 x 6 pcs. Is it Ok ? Personally I would double up on the RX battery but I am sure many will say it is good enough.
When are you going to fly it. I am curious how a 58 does in this size plane.

Thanks Bob. This engine is very powerful. Before deciding to use this MVVS 58 I do have searching a lots of information in Europe. Most of them use ZDZ 80 and MVVS 58 on this plane. I will do first flight this weekend and will post some more photos and shots. I am testing my battery by using servo testing mode and let it runs for about 15 mins continuous. I do check the battery it is still enough for several flights I think. But I am thinking too to use double battery and power expansion board. However I saw several guys in Europe they used only one set of high mAh pack for receiver and servos. I would like to hear other people comments too since this is the first time I used JR 8711 for 6 units.
Normally I used Li-On 5200 mAh for 5985, 5955 about 5 pcs and no problem. |

That's a very nice looking plane! I've had the same plane, same scheme on order for over a month... getting a little tired of not hearing anything from my friends at Comp-ARF.
One quick question... how much clearance do you have for the prop when the plane is sitting on its wheels? I'm considering a DA-85 for this plane, but I'm afraid there may not be enough clearance for a decent prop. To your earlier question, I also would go with a dual battery setup on the receiver. On this size plane, since you're probably not linking multiple servos together, no real need for a power board... just plug the 2 battery leads into open slots on the receiver, it will pull power from both pretty equally. Other than that.. looks good. |

To Fearless flyer, I have ordered the KS canister set from Germany and the header that have in stock is to mount the engine in horizontal direction. I have looked on many similar EXTRA composite 2.3m with MVVS engines, some of them put engine inverted and some put in horizontal direction. I learned from some one that when mounting engine in this direction it will help to compensate the toqrue from the engine. Also the cowling underneath was not cut out a lots. I got feedback from them and it was flying great, no issues in both ways of engine installation.
For dual battery, I think I may need to add some redundant 7.4 volts 2600 mAh with voltage regulator for sure. Thanks for your good comment that I don't need power expansion board since I do not link several servos into one channel. It is individual channel....one for each servo since I have G3 receiver. Can you please reconfirm my drawing on second battery as attached photo. |

Prapan,
It's a nice scheme isnt it. Not many of them out here. I've got an early ZDZ60RV in my 2.3 & will prob put it on a canister or a pipe for noise reasons. (And more power of course) I'm only running 1 servo per aileron so am a little lighter in the weight department. Power is fine for what i'm doing being Basic IMAC, but will prob need more as i progress. Got about 80 flights on mine now & lovin it. ![]()

This is diagram you suggested. Is it Ok will add....
1 more FROMECO adjustable voltage regulator 1 more Switch ON/OFF FUTABA heavy duty or change to Woverine switch 1 more FROMECO Li-Ion 7.4 volts 2600 mAh.. For the clearance of my plane with 24 x 8 and sit on 4" Kavan Wheel from TBM is 5 inch height. I think for DA-85 you should have clearance prop from the ground at least 3 inch for safe side. |

Hi Jamieman, Nice to get information from you. I have been in Sydney several times and love to come back if I have any chance for it. Are your plane can perform hovering with authority?. My friend FUTABA scheme used to install the same ZDZ 60RV and power is not good enough for full 3D so he switched to ZDZ 80RV with smoke Skywriter (smoke tank 32 oz). Here is a picture of his son who is only 9 yrs old with 2.3m FUTABA color....I would like to get your feedback on ZDZ 60 with this plane. I have read a lots about ZDZ 60 / DA-50 and MVVS 58 power and seems to me that MVVS 58 does a great job on this as it can swing 26 x 10 at 5900 - 6100 rpm.

Yes, your picture is the propper setup for multiple batteries.. you can check each battery after a few flights to make sure they are draining equally... if they aren't, then consider a power board, but most folks running up to 100cc class planes don't need that added expense or capability. Thanks for the info on the prop clearance... I've got some math to work out! |

The ZDZ60 in mine is the earlier version & i think the later version puts out more power. I would say it dosent have enough power to 3d properly. It has good vertical but lacks the punch of an 80. May be different story if it was on a pipe. My ZDZ60 will spin a Mej 23 x 8 at 6900 or Bambula 22 x 10 at 6800 on a Wraparound pitts. 26 x 10 sounds like a big ask for the mvvs tho. For what i am doing it is a good combo.
