Default 3W 157 Hub

As luck may have it. 1 week before the last contest in the Southeast, And I sheer the bolts off in the Hub. They are too deep for an easy-out and the threads are shot on 2 of the holes.
I got the alignment bolt off the front of the hub but am having trouble getting the hub its self off.
Should this slide right off or is it tapered and a special tool is needed.
Monty

The hub will require a puller of some type and some heat applied to the hub will help. A drill guide with prop bolts passing through it and then threded ino the hub can work. The center stub on the guide should center on the end of the crankshaft. You may need some kind of spacer between the stub and shaft.
Beware: If it's not aligned right or if anything slips, the threads on the shaft can be damaged.
Broken bolts can be tricky to remove. A new hub may end up being the best option.

SUCCESS!
A little heat on the hub with the heat gun did the trick.
Need to get a new hub overnighted and back in business.
Thanks!

Monty,
FYI, the hubs do not have the magnets installed. Don't ask me why, but they don't.
At least it was that way for fmy 106QS.

I was told it was EASY to do, but I just ended up sending the whole thing to AI just to make sure.

Sorry for bad news, maybe Gerhard can help.

BTW: How do you like your 157?? Is it the CS, or standard? I am still torn between a DA or 3W for my new Yak55.

Cheers,
wayne

Hey Wayne,
I have had no problems at all with the 157CS till now, and that was most likely my fault. The prop holes where not exactly drilled right and its been a wile since I have snugged up the bolts.
One of my flying buddies has the new 3 meter Compy with the 3W 170CS and its great!
IMO that is definitely the motor for this plane. He will have it at Ocala next weekend if your going.
I'll have to see if Gerhard can install the magnets. Thanks for the heads up!

You'll have to send the engine back also. Each engine is individually timed when hub is changed. It's only about $35 labor, plus the cost of the hub. I Had to have my 150CS and 200TS done, but I sheared hub keys.
