Hi,
I'm looking for a new engine for my new profile. I want the best 2 stroke engine and not the cheapest. I'm thinking of the O.S. Max 55AX. Please advice. Butterfly: Wing Span: 48-1/2in(1235mm) Length:44-1/2in(1130mm) Wing Area:750sq in(48.4sq dm) Weight: 3.6-4lbs(1650-1800g) http://www.kuzarc.com/index.php?Page=39

I flew the brother/sister of the butterfly, a plane called the air kller, i used an MVVS 49 on it, I think an os 50 wll be good enough, a 55 will be ballistic. Whichever you choose, your in for a lot of fun. A few guys over here have flow it with Thunder tiger 46's and APC12.25x3.75 props, with good results as well.

The OS 55 is only 20 grams (0.7 ounce) heavier.
I only am worried the OS 55 is to heavy. Is it? (ballistic souns good) And I want to use a APC12.25x3.75 prop on it. |

Well lighter is always better, but your not going to feel 20grams additional weight. With the OS55, you might be able to go with a 13x4W instead of the 12.25x3.75, but as I have not run that motor persoanlly, I cant be sure of that. Maybe someone with the motor can chip in.

Webra .50 or the OS .55AX would both be fine choices. The Webra would be the lighter of the two, and the .55 will probably have an edge on power....

Thanks
I'm going to order the OS 55 with the 12.25x3.75 prop. What about servo's? I want to use the 3001, but aren't they to slow? Other suggestions? Last edited by bjlevi; 10-17-2007 at 06:43 AM. |

BJ, I've always found that the 3004 is a pretty good servo for a standard profile. Especially good when run on 6v packs. There are plenty more expensive servos, but the 3004 will do the job.

I've ordered the OS 55, four 3004's, HS-81 and a 5cell 6V battery pack with a BEC.
Can't wait to build it. |
