Default Demo Tips

Hi guys I will be flying a noon time demo next weekend at a fly-in. I can only fly a glow so i will use a funstar 3D .46 the plane is set up nice and ready to 3D hard. I was looking for tips that will make the crowd go WOW. i was thinking about putting streamers on both my wing tips. Do you guys know how long the streamers can be until they start affecting flight noticeably? anyone have any flying techniques that can wow the crowd with a small plane? The weather conditions will most likely be windy around 15mph winds.
thanks, Tony

My advice is do not do any maneuvers you do not have down cold. A demo is not the time to push your or the planes limits. Remain focused on your plane, there could be many distractions at some events, especially open to public ones. Stay within your comfort zone and it will go great.

If you have never flown in front of a big crowd you will be nervous. I agree with jwilliams to keep the manuvers to what you know. If it is a non RC crowd simple rolls and loops will impress! In my old club we used to fly for the special olympics. One thing we always did was go to the flying site and go through our show. This is especially critical if you are flying somewhere you have never flown before.

Another thing that really goes over great is if you have a trainer with a buddy cord to get kids on the sticks. It works best if you have an experienced pilot working with the kids on the trainer box while you keep the plane in complete control.

One last thing. Do not fly a demo in front of a crowd unless you are an experience pilot.

Be safe, have fun, but don't crash!

I have flown on front of a crowd before and I am an experienced pilot but this will be my first solo demo. Where I am the center of attention. I was just looking for things that make the crowd go WOW. i can fly almost any manuever thrown at me so any tips on what R/C pilots and on pilots like to see in demos?
thanks, Tony

all i can add is, what makes most pilots look is seeing something that they have never seen before. seeing the same ole thing just dosent get anyone to watch and go WOW. except people that dont fly or are new to the hobby. but this is a good thing because it brings new blood into the hobby. low and smooth is what i look for. it keeps me looking. know your routine down pat. iam shure you will do just fine and remember we are watching

I posed a similar question a couple months ago in a thread… Creating the WOW Factor. Had some good input, here is a link to it. http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/fg2/19062-creating-wow-factor.html

Dont fly too low. When there is a crowd only the front row will see your antics. High speed inverted passes always do the trick for the non hobby flolks. Remeber the Big three questions we always get asked. How HIGH?, How FAST? and How MUCH? Demonstrate the first two often..

You need to keep the tricks going in succession. That keeps everyones attention. Even if you have to do somethings over it looks more impressive for the crowd and other pilots. Stopping one trick and flying around to set up for another gets boring for the people. If you go from one trick and slam into another really puts the wow factor in it. Keep the plane twistin!
