I love all of the new servos out now. I recently got some Hyperion Atlas servos that are VERY strong. How much torque?? I dunno -- says here, 23.5 Kg/cm --How do I convert that into Oz/in ??Anyone...??
There has got to be a solution. I'm a newbie to FG and there are some SMART COOKIES out there. I know someone will have an answer. Thanks -- I STILL like Hyperion stuff ! ! ! Airgeek |

I could give you all the math to do it (I'm an engineer and taught for years as well) but why hurt your brain, work smarter NOT harder!
Here is a link for you to do these conversions quick and easy. http://www.linengineering.com/flash/Calculator.swf But in case you just want an answer 23.5Kg-cm is 326.1095oz-in. MadDog Joe

Just for starters, it is not kg/cm it is kg*cm and thus it would convert to oz*in
1 kg*cm = 13.887 oz*in The really confusing thing about it all, is servos are the only thing that I know of that are marked in these weird units for torque, the standard for metric is Newton meters (N*m) and I think the standard for imperial is pounds force * foot (lb.-ft). I personally really battle to transfer these figures into real world figures that I can understand in my head. Every time I look at a servo spec I have to pull out a calculator to convert to Nm torque. Cheers Stephen |

Thanks to all ! ! ! I can do all the silly math I want now --
Now, I have to get over looking at electric motor ratings -- To me, (an electronics tech) a motor rated at 1120Kv means that it is good to 1.2 million volts -- I know what the numbers mean, but who came up with this stuff ?? Oh well, the important thing is, it works. Thanks again ! ! ! Airgeek |
