Congrats man! It's a long process, but it's completely worth it. The 1 to 2 hours a week sounds pretty good, maybe a bit on the low side. You typically want to try to fly twice a week to be the most cost effective. 1 flight a week is still OK though. I'd also go ahead and buy the Gleim study guide for your written test: https://www.gleim.com/aviation/priva...ecb074c67c06e2 That book is worth every penny when it comes to taking your written. Sportys.com also has some online tests you can take to help get you ready for it.

Hey Kevin. I took my first lesson a few weeks ago. I have never been in a small aircraft before that. I got a little quezy when the flaps went down for landing, but it was awesome! It was in a Cessna 172.

Thanks for the advice. I have been up in a 182 and a 172 before. Also been up in a Piper Cub. It is fun doing the death slide in a cub and land on one wheel!!! I wish I could do more flying each week but I am making money from my job weekly and it is the same as the cost of flying lessons. Well it is a little more beause the plane I am using is brand new. I will be using it for the first couple of times then go to a 172 which is cheaper.

Congrats on the lessons. As an instructor the biggest mistake I see people make is they enjoy the flying to much and don't hit the books like they should. Tom

Here's a site I found very helpful during my prep for my private test.
good luck all the hard work is worth it the first time you fly away with that little ticket in your pocket. The first solo is pretty good as well. http://www.mywrittenexam.com/ |

Sweet deal man. I got my private single engine back in April and now im about 3/4 of the way through private multi. Should be starting instrument come spring. Its alot of fun, and pretty much a dream come true for me. Just keep track of your money and use it wisely, its gets expensive really quick. Diamonds are sweet planes. My school just got 5 brand new DA42's (diamond's light twin) and we're expecting to get another 5 in the winter. I got a chance to back seat a friend of mine's lesson in the Diamond and its a totally different animal from your run of the mill Cessna or Piper.
Good luck man, if you have an questions feel free to shoot me a pm I'd be glad to help ya out.

Sukhoikid, good for you. I was 18 when I started taking private pilot instruction. Got my CFII when I was 21, now I fly an A300 for UPS. It was a long road that often seemed endless, but now it has all been worth it. Along the way I managed to give over 1000 hours of instruction to private, instrument, Commercial and multi engine students, I agree with 3Dreaming stay on the books. Also, when trying to build time, fly the cheapest thing you can, many people want to fly a complex category single engine plane, do not fall to this trap. It is attractive, but you will need to build total hours so go cheap, save that money till you need to build time in a complex SEL plane. Airlines really do not care what plane your single engine time is in anyway. (I know because I used to serve on the interview/hiring committee.)
Best of luck, Jeff Williams

Congrats Kevin!
I started working on my PPL in June and have been loving it. Has kept me away from flying R/C a good bit, but they will still be around when I get more free time. I don't get to fly as much as I would like with work and weather lately being a problem. Like what has been said above, make sure you read your books. Have fun with it. Trey |

They had to cancel my lessons today. The plane had equipment failure. Just something little and they will have someone work on it tomorrow money. Hopefully in the afternoon tomorrow I can go up. Thanks for all of the advice. It is something I have always wanted to do. Everyone in the family is worried about me flying and they always ask me if I am nervous. I just told them not to worry. I do get a little nervous on the takeoff but after that I love it. Hopefully after a few flights I will get use to the take off part!!!!
