Default who's ready for REALFLIGHT G4?!?

Its true, i just stumbled across the knife edge page lookin for new downloads and sure enough, RealFlight G4 will be available some time in November!
LOTS of cool new features including WATER!
I was curious about if it would be available as a free upgrade for exsisting G3
owners(like it was from G3 to G3.5) the word is that it is a totally new program..
They will be offering exsisting owners money off coupons on the purchase of
G4, but no free downloads.
I Dont care, my wallet is ready to puke out whatever it takes for G4!
www.Knifeedge.com has screenshots and more info. check it out!

Knife Edge is pleased to announce that our newest version of RealFlight will be available soon from your favorite hobby outlet.

Adam, Scott, Ted, and Zach will represent Knife Edge during RealFlight G4's public unveiling at this weekend's iHobby show in Chicago, Illinois. If you are at the show please stop by to say hi to them and get all the latest info.

RealFlight G4 adds a number of often requested features, including:
- New aircraft
- New airports
- Float flying
- Better sailplane support, including a variometer, better thermal support, and dynamic soaring
- A completely redesigned controller, the Interlink Elite, based on the Futaba 6EX, with digital trims and built-in navigation buttons
- A console system allowing low-level commands and bindable keys.
- More realistic ground handling, including springy landing gear.
- Many, many user-interface and general usability improvements. For example, it is now possible to import multiple swap page items at once.
- New rendering features, including a "bloom" post-process effect, soft shadowing, new prop and heli blade effects. Also, more ways to tune the quality/performance trade-off to your liking.

Current customers of RealFlight G3.5 will receive a rebate toward a purchase of RealFlight G4. Our publisher, Great Planes, will announce pricing and the rebate details shortly.

One important note: RealFlight G4 is not compatible with the RealFlight Classic or G2 "Add Ons" packs. It is, however, compatible with all RealFlight G3 Expansion Packs. Unfortunately, the older Add Ons just couldn't be reworked to fit into G4's way of doing things. We are still looking into some way of making these packs available to RealFlight G4 customers.

We've set up a new forum for discussing G4 here: http://www.knifeedge.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=87

Looks awesome, I wonder how much of a resource drain it will be on the computer. G3.5 was enough. May have to upgrade video card and RAM again....

yeah, no doubt it will be a PC performance eater. there has not been any price
release yet, but in my opinion, would gues that it would be somewhere between 200 and 250...(probably closer to 250).

As with every other newly released game too. Its hard enough teh dish out the 199 for a sim plus upgrades for your comp. Its kinda hard to justify when you could easily buy a pretty nice 'real' plane. I'll stick to the demonstration model we'll get at the hobby shop i work at, lol

The real question is "Will it work with Windows VISTA?" G3.5 does not, at least not fo rme.

I would think that would be one of the first things that they adressed when
they created G4 to keep up with todays standards.
When I first got Vista with my new comuter, G3.5 did not work for me either...
Call the technical support line and they will go through everything step by step
and wont hang up the phone until G3.5 is running. Its something to do with all
the extra security that comes with vista... The knifeedge guy told me alot of
stuff about it but im a computer tard, so i didnt really understand what he was
saying

I really hope they updated the physics because 3.5 is an absolute joke, IMO. I was a huge supporter and fan of G3 and have owned it since the first release a few years ago. My enthusiasm has diminished to the point where I don't even have it installed on any of my PC's anymore.. The physics got worse and worse to the point of where it's cartoonish. I have FS1, which has some crippling limitations and have now gone back to AFPD. With AFPD, you really can make the planes fly and react the most realistically, but it takes A LOT of tweaking. G3.5 is hopeless, though..

With that said, if the physics are improved, I will buy it in a heartbeat.

The way the Realflight software gets more and more bloated on every release you will probably need a supercomputer to run it smoothly....

As far as I have experienced..

FS1-flew it at a demo never liked it at all,
Aerofly ProDeluxe- best sim for 3d airplanes and flying, helis are OK.
G3.5- Great all around sim. best for helis, 3d airplane physics somewhat suck,,

however I do plan to buy G4 ,, ,

They don't care about physics...

they just want a fun "video game" to make money off of, and to eat up resources.

Looks like they succeeded, more unnecessary features and no word on physics.
