I found a picture on horrizon hobbies web site. It does'nt give any tourqe values, but it did say they would be out early december. The cost 114.99 that wil be great if they have the same tourqe as the 8711's. If anyone knows the tourqe specs please let us know.

All I've found is the resolution is supposed to be 2X the resolution of the 5955.

So they are the same torque and same speed as the 5955? I wonder if they'll actually be the advertised torque or the tbm torque???? Sounds almost like the same servo with a different name?

180 torque ounces?? That's because they're not getting the advertised torque. If they were, they could...

OOPPPSSSS!!! I over rated it. According to tbm, it's only 152 oz-in
http://troybuiltmodels.com/servo_testing.htm The 8711 wiped the floor with it at 280 oz-in Before anyone goes ballistic. I am a hitec fan but I'm not happy about the loss in torque... |

I posted this on the other thread.. It's what I'm referring to.
Now don't get me wrong. I am NOT a jr fan. What ticks me off is that you're not getting what's advertised!!!! Let me explain. There's a guy in our club with a 35% carden extra that he just put together. Of course, everyone including me was telling him about the high torque and advantages with the hitec servos (& there are some advantages, servo reversing etc). He decided to go with hitec servos and with the 5955 on his rudder. Well, he was having a hard time keeping it in knife edge. It would be ok for the first knife edge then not be able to hold after that. He gave up and put a 8711 on the rudder and now he can knife edge + climb all day. Yes, 87's also sag some in power, but the point is that if the 5955 would have put out a majority of the power that they claim (the power that we paid for!!) it would have been plenty for his plane. Instead, his choices were either to go with a 2nd 5955 or switch to a jr.... Either way, he had to spend his $ twice... |

Here's another interesting read re: servo testing:
http://www.servotestsite.com/page5.html Also, for what it's worth, I have a single 5955 on a 33% rudder and it will knife edge loop just as well at the beginning of the flight as it does after several minutes of hard flying. |

It should!!!!! Something would be seriously wrong if it didn't...That's good but an old test as it doesn't include the 8711... I would also ad that it depends on what the servo is going to be used for, ie. If you need the torque more or say the reversing function... |

I believe the issue is the advertised power is the holding power, not the pulling power.
I don't think anyone could say that the new 8711 isn't an awesome servo, that's already been proven. |
