I have installed also an EVO 80 in my 35% Yak, My question to you what is the weight of your airplane???

I would go with the Brilleli 60 with an ES composites full length pipe (very light pipe).

Hi,

I always thought 18-20 lbs are damn much, but you must think the Katana have a very large wing area of aprox. 1820 (Krill) / 1670 sq.inches other birds like the QQ Yak / EF Yak have aprox. 1420 to 1450 sq.inches.

The Evolution 58 is not my first choice I had a lot of trouble with mine....it was replaced twice before I gave up and sold it. Also it is pretty heavy, almost as heavy as a ZDZ 80. Personally I would go with either a piped DA 50 or a piped Brilleli 60 for a little extra power.

Wise words,i had to friends give the evolutions a try because the LHS stocked them,i spent alot of time flying my DA 50 while the 58,s where being shipped back and fourth(lots of power when they did run good, but rare).I felt bad for them, but they wanted to be differant, and they were.I saw those Brillelis at atl huckfest, those things got juice and ran strong all weekend long, would have liked to hear one on a pipe.Any pics of said Krill?

I have flown r1king76's 39% krill katana i was very surprised that the plane didn't seem fast it has a DA150 on standard mufflers. even with the thin wings it slowed down very well on landing, so i don't think the 50cc krill will be much different in that area . as far as saying the 85 is to much engine, i recommend going with a 3 blade prop to absorb the excess power and get the ground clearance needed. I have an aeroworks 29% katana with a brison 52 in it , i feel it needs more power in the vertical so i say go for it with the bigger engine just my 2c

I would have a hard time comparing a brison 52 to a DA 50 on a pipe.Is the plane being used for IMAC or 3D?I have watched the vid of the 28% Krill 4 times, looks like the power to weight ratio is dead on...I was out flying today with a buddy of mine who flies a 33% SD Yak with a ZDZ super 80 and that plane has some stupid power,I couldent picture that kind of power in a 28% plane.....Just My 2 Cents...

I know he wants this for 3D. He saw my h9 cap with a 3w-106 in it and loves the crazy power it has. Im pretty sure he wants something very similar without haveing to worry about a lot of mods and hurting the plane itself.

well i just got the plane and by the looks of things i say the plane wont have any problems with the weight, these wings are really big, i think i may have an issue fitting the engine in the cowle, i was looking @ the 3w 55 compition, the other 3w motors are a little on the heavy side, its just that the da 85 is super light for its power, i mean what are the normal factors when choosing an engine, weight and size, i have never heard of anyone complain that the engine they put in there plane had too much power, i have head tons of people because there plane is under powered, this project will cost me at least 2300$ and i dont want to be that deep it to it and not love the plane.

Nice Jimmy cant wait to get my hands on the sticks no matter what engine you throw on the front. If it hovers just off idle thats less my left thumb has to move. Either way if it flies ANYTHING like the 39% should have a wide range of engine options. OOh by the way can you say throttle management. I knew you couldnt so dial it in to your radio and fly buddy!

if you do it you should beef up the firewall with some aluminum or carbon fiber angle or something

http://www.robotcombat.com/marketpla...ber_struc.html

you will need the smallest possible standoffs so that it will be easier to balance. (if you can move the firewall further in)

and just butcher the cowl.

A couple of days ago I bought a 120 size h9 cap from a guy with a zenoah g62 and the plane was still in good shape after many flights, of course he tripled the firewall with aluminum sheets. The plane weighed about 18 lbs dry with only 73" of wingspan, it flew really fast but that was about it.

The only issue the plane has is that he tore out the horizontal and vertical stabs while cranking the engine to full throttle while he was a couple of inches in front of the vertical stab.

In other words you will have a blast with a da 85 just make sure to not run it at full throttle on the ground without securing it in at least a couple of places rather than just the stab.

Hey Jimmy cant wait to get my hands on the sticks. If it hovers just off idle I wont have to move my left thumb much. Can you say throttle management,,,,,I knew you couldnt so dial it into your fancy radio and lets do this!
