Have you given any thought as to how hard it might be to obtain the proper CG with all the extra weight of an 85cc engine out front? just curious might be a PITA. This plane has been flown successfully with 50cc class engines if you don't think that a DA 50 possibly with a tuned pipe is the answer then maybe take a look at something a little bigger with out significant weight penalty. I would strongly recommend looking at a Brilleli 60 or a modified zenoah G 62 lite with or without a tuned pipe on either of them.

OK, continueing with the positive side of the thread. It is not the vibration alone, but the reactionary force on the airplane to the propellar spinning when the cylinder fires that also causes damage to an airplane. When this twisting action occurs, the wings are no longer dampening propellar osccillation at the same time as the tail. Reactionary force is was causes structural failure.

This previous explaination is why I suggested going with the ZDZ. A 50cc motor usually swings between 22-23" propellar. I am sure it can handle a 24B, maybe even 24C. The is all under the precondition that the aircraft will weigh 20LBs. And all neccessary steps are taken to ensure structural integrity.

A local club member had the Aeroworks Yak 50cc, Brison 3.2, Smoke, and it came in at 20lbs. He was disappointed with the weight and performance. 19.5 is conceivable with a kit weight of 11.9lbs, 4.5lbs engine equip, Smoke, High Torques, and a Redundant Power system with Regs.

Remember everyone said Noah's ark was too big until it rained. Once again, gud luck with your decision.

hey black bird, ive been thinking, you have a verry good suggestion, the da is out and i am looking at the zdz 80, do you think this engine is still over kill, it is a little smaller and has 8.5 hp instead of 9.5, this seems like the perfect choice, i hope i am not wrong on the weight of this airplane because if i am, then sticking in anything other than a da 50 would be a mistake.

hey rcmgraphics, please post exactly what your plane weighs, and tell us a little about how she flys, i woud like to hear from someone who owns the airplane,

and for thoes who keep telling me to get another airplane, this one is sitting in my living room, so too late for that, besides i love my 39% krill so this one should not be too far off.

With either engine you will have to run a 24x10 3 blade prop. If you drop the da for power and size reasons then that also includes all 3w 80's zdz 80 evo 80 and so on. If your going to use a an 80 size engine i suggest going da85 or zdz 80. If your going lower go DA50 or 3w 55 or other 3 pound moor.

You wont have to worry about that the bme 115 has major issues and in my exp unreliable so dont use it.

PS when ready to fly the bme 115 is heavier than a zdz or a da85
