Hello FG Friends,
I am willing to start a build thread on here if anyone is interested. I was going to sell this 92" Hybrid kit but instead I already have it and it is a pain in the butt to get a good size kit over here to Germany without paying international shipping fees. So, with that said I am going to make this one my winter project. I have a very busy schedule due to 12 hour shifts at work and going to school. I will probably only be working on this about once a week so bare with me cause it might be going a little slow. I will be putting the following engine and electronic equipment in this beast: DA-50 W/ Tuned Pipe Hitec 5955 on the Rudder Hitec 5645's on the aileron's and elevator's Futaba R149DP Receiver FromeCo Batteries And Regulators If there is any suggestions that anyone has with anything while doing this thread please feel free to let me know your ideas or if you need help with yours just send me a pm and I will do what I can to help anyone out.

Here we go FG Friends,
To start this one off this is how the kit comes out of the box. I have to say that OMP does a very good packaging job on there kits. The laser cutting is perfect. The laser cut parts come right out of the plywood and balsa sheets. I will have plenty more pictures to follow in this thread so hang tight and stay tuned.

Bummer......
I was just looking at the plans and realized that OMP sent me two sets for the wing instead of one for the fuselage. Oh well, I guess I will just have to give John a call at OMP. He is a great guy to deal with so I am sure that I will be getting some in the mail shortly at no charge.

It awesome to see finally see a build on this plane. I've been thinking of doing one on a budget......the kit is inexpensive for it's size, throw a cheap cloned engine at it.....good servos and voila.....it would be a great beater plane. I'm really looking forward to your build.

Prizzy,
Here is a picture of my buddies Hybrid. He sure did do a good job on this one. I sure hope to finish mine like this one but with a different color scheme.

Well it looks like I am going to go at it tomorrow. If it snows I am screwed because my job is pushing snow off taxiways and runways but if not I will be tucked away in my room to start it off. I am without fuselage plans for right now but should be getting them early next week.
I will have some pictures tomorrow night after I finish for the day. Have a good weekend guys.

Shane,
I have built three of the Hybrids. When building the wings on page 17 step 20 it tells you to cut the 2"x48" piece corner to corner. This step needs to say cut from 3/8" to 1&5/8". If you cut from corner to corner you won't have enough to cover at the end of the aileron. I also recommend putting plywood hard points in the fuse sides where the canopy bolts go thru to avoid crushing the balsa. Also the last two I made a removable cowl on the engine compartment to make it easier to get at the engine for hooking up linkages etc. If you would like pictures of this send me an e-mail at nagnom@verizon.net |
