Default Which Comp.ARF

I am going to move into 40% planes,
I have two of Comp.ARF extras the 2.6m extra 330L and the 2.6m extra 300sx.
I really like the way the 330L flys much more than the 300sx but I do have more flights on the 330 than the 300.
I called my rep to get an idea of the cost on a 3.1m superextra but he told me than everyone was going with the 3m extra260.
which one would be the better flying of the two?

I got the 260 because I heard it flys imac better. I would go with the 260 because its a better over all plane but it depends on what you like. I think the super extra is better at 3d.

I hope to start competing next year but I also want a plane that will do both but I guess you can't have yor cake and eat it too...I like the overall looks and handling of their smaller 2.6m 330L.
the body style of the 260 is not appealing to me.

sorry mark but I do not like the "lines" of a yak or suk, fly great I'm sure but the "looks" is just like wine I cannot get the taste for either.

Well deffinetly get the plane that looks good to you. You dont want a plane that flys good but when you look at it you arent impressed. If you like the looks of the super extra than deffinetly get it. I am sure it flys great. And hey, its a comp arf. How couldnt you be happy. I am happy every time I see my 260 crate. Cant wait to open it. The only thing I heard about the sx's tendancys are funky snaps. May be if you are going to be serious about imac in the future consider the 260 because they are all over the place. Shootout unlimited and intermediate champs flew them

Nothing wrong with the SuperX mate.
I've been flying one for almost 3 years now. Its a great IMAC plane and a 3D monster too boot.
I would suggest going with a little more motor than a 150 though. the plane will come in around 41 to 43lbs. I went from a DA150 to the 157 and now a 170! The 3W170 is the ticket in this plane.
It does have a tendency to get a little deep in the snaps, if you let it. This can be taken care of in set-up and time on the sticks. I have seen Superx flying very competively in unlimited, and winning!
This is a great all around plane.

I will add my vote to the Super extra, only because I own one!!

This year I flew mine very competitively in the Advanced class and am taking it to the Unlimited Class for next year.

In the right hands the 260, SuperXtra or the 3 metre Yak are all excellent IMAC weapons. I would pick the one you like the look of most!! (scientific I know)
I have to agree with plane wrappers though, if your going to go with the SX think about a bigger motor. If you just have to have a DA 150 your going to want to make room for some tuned pipes.

Out of all the 3M comp arf's Ive flown(Giles 202, 3M extra, MX2, 260 and 3.3 Yak) for a 150cc combo the 260 IMO is the best all round plane. great power to weight ratio, rolls great(not as nice as the Giles) Snaps better then any.

did your cowling need any special attention when you received it, mine has a pretty bad seam on it, and if so did you repair it or send for a new one ?

I bet you just got a bad seed. All the cowls I have seen are about perfect. And once again any of the 3 comp arfs are going to be great planes. But I think you can also save a little money with a 260 because the motor combo. I have pipes to put in mine so the power to weight should be good.

I had a bad cowl on my first 2.6m 330L, they told me thaat they would replace it but the colors may or may not match, so I asked for some paint and touched it up myself but the sx came out looking great not a sigle blemish, great looking plane on the ground and in the air.
Talked to Ray today(well the wife did) about getting the 260 done in a red and yellow scheme and just for a 100 more I can get it but it will take 6 to 8 weeks to get it here.
guess that will give me time to get everything else together.
