I ordered some multiplex connectors, 22g twisted wire and crimping pliers. This plane will be hard wired as best as I can get it. So I better brush up on my soldering skills.

Ok folks from here on in we should have daily reports and progress pics. I'm manufacturing some aluminum control horns, 2 per servo and will use DuBro ball links. After I get a couple done I will post pics so you can see how I'm doing it. It will take the rest of the day to finish and maybe tommorrow. But it will be worth it I think and look very cool.

This is the first one I'm working on, it still has finish work going, but it will be exactly like the phenolics only stronger.

are you going with 2 servos or 1 in the ailerons? If two... you'll need to get creative and find a way to screw in the outboard servos... unless you have a 30 inch or so screwdriver laying around!!

Eagle- I havnt fit them yet, but I will make the slots at least 20mm deep and I think about a 1/3 of hole will be taken out
Reyn- I dont think I'll need that the aileron servo's are attached to a hatch and they have brackets that glue to the hatch, If I'm wrong let me know |

I thought the 2.6 had the servos mounted inside a wing rib, and the door was just to allow getting in to put the servo in the hole and connect the arm.
I could be wrong... I know the 3 meter size are like that, but the 2.6 might mount the servo on the doors. My BVM Extra has the servos mounted in the wing rib, and there's no door to assist... I only used 1 servo in each wing, but even that one was a beeotch. Its done now, but it took some work! |

the comp has hatches for both servos I went with a bigger screw for the hatches button head.Don't forget to make sure there is a sub rib on each side of the opening of your hatches, from top to botttom, one of my hatches support was not glued in very well and I had to redo it much better now

(I have one of those too)I really don't think you need to use 2 horns on the comp-arf control surface. I used ball links on the servo arm (SWB) and stock clevis on the flight surface. Many flights to date with no problems. Simple and easy, with little work involved. It's the one in my avatar (not an sx), but 22.5 lbs and flies sweet Last edited by RTK; 11-16-2007 at 11:40 PM. |
