thanks for the info.
I was not sure, i have my feed line over the tank not my vent line, DA2000 told me about it but for some reason I did not understand what he said, too much time around loud noises, not dumb just deaf,as for my vent tube, I do not let it get past the stopper more than an inch, as soon as the it comes out the stopper I turn it straight down,if you never ask you never get told |

Uhhh... With covering its all the ends and corners that really get you. I'm getting quite fast and doing flat open surfaces now. I did each side of the ailerons in about 20 mins. It takes that long to do the tip of the aileron. Most of the wing tips and slow bits are done on the wings.
Once the wings are covered I'm going to "float" the design on top of the yellow base. I'm hoping that will be easier and faster than trying to fit all those small pieces together on the wing. Lomcevek1 has a cool Youtube video and thread on the more advanced applications of this on this technique. The video I linked to earlier in the thread shows how to do this also and he calls it "Floating".

Gareth,
You can't count on the check valves working correctly all the time so don't use them. I used to use a two line tank but gave up and now use three. With two you can just put a tee in the carb. line for the fill. On a nitro motor this would flood the carb but the way the carb works on a gas motor it would be OK. Vic's explanation is a good one. If the vent line is looped behind the tank you will get very little spillage during flight. The vent line should exit the plane about an inch below the fuse or cowl. I only have to clean the bottom of my plane about every twenty flights. Even then it isn't dirty or covered with fuel. Mark |

Yea, it was just an idea. Dan suggested the the 2 line tank with a T fitting also. Why did you switch to the 3 line tank of 2 will work just fine?
The tubing that came with the Dubro tank seems to be for the nitro stopper. I can't get it to pass through the gas stopper. I got some 1/8" tubing and that seems to fit snugly.

I'll lube it up and err...
Got the other aileron and 1/2 of a wing done last night. Looks pretty good.really getting the technique down. I'll try and do another video. I ran out of Yellow. I have plenty of Red and Blue left. I need 3 more 6 foot rolls to finish the wings. So it takes about two 25 foot rolls of covering to do a 35% airplane. There is a lot of waste but its mostly unavoidable because you need long pieces to do things like wings and fuse sides. I should be able to finish the covering this weekend and have the fiberglass parts in primer. I'm starting to see the finish line.

Wouldn't you know it. The Hitec throttle servo shows up and its slightly wider than the servo box I built for it.
Tip: Buy at lest 1 of every servo you intend to use before making servo boxes. I skimped and read the measurements from JR's website and got away with it. I didn't have the cash up front to buy all the servos. The JR 8711 is a little bigger than the Hitec 5955 so I used it as the model for all the servo boxes on this airplane. An 8711 fits snugly in all the boxes so the servo screws wouldn't carry any torsional load. The 5955's are narrower so I would have to shim them to get the same effect. Some more sanding will fix the throttle servo box. Just one more thing that will take time.

Use a metal ruler 1mm from the sides of the hole you already made and use a drum sander tip with a dremel. Takes literally 1 minute.

Box is already epoxied into the fuse, nothing will fit in there but a sanding stick.
