3" standoffs can help well in balancing the DA50 as well

The Lanier should come with spacers. If not, just go to ace and buy some washers. Allways make the engine fit to your cowl perfectly then move stuff inside the plane. Some guys just add led but it's not nessesary if you make re-arrangements.

Are you saying that the 3" would make the engine extend outside the cowl ?

To mount a DA50 on the 87 edge, you will need 2 1/2 inch standoffs.

Well most planes use a 2.5 inch standoff with a DA-50 or DL-50 (same engine). Washers just give you the perfect alignment with the spinner and the cowling. Make sure you use equal amounts on each stand off if you even need to use them at all.

hi guys,

I have the lanier yak with an evo 58 and have the lanier edge 87" as well, I have another evo 58 to put on the edge. I have flown the yak with the evo 58, plenty of power. with a 24x10 tbm prop I am getting 6750 rpm.. can't remember the temp but I am at 900 feet. enjoy the edge, they are a good deal. alot of people are getting the rtf in the 18lb range without going carbon.

already mentioned in this thread but be sure and re-inforce the firewall. the firewall is pinned but no angles on the backside for strength.. also be sure and check the landing gear box as well.

Better to reinforce the firewall with some triangles and carbon fiber.
Cheers,
Finally the good news is here. I have built a Lanier edge 540 to a friend “alan” in our club www.amazrc.com with a DA-85 and he did yesterday the very successful test flight. Believe me guys this “discontinued” bird is great with the DA-85 and the CG was perfect, it was really balanced. I did some reinforcement to the firewall and surely some adjustment since the slimline muffler was big enough to hit the firewall box at the bottom. I will provide you soon with some pics.
