It is a nice plane. I have a 1/3 Laser, but Lanier's...
Im using a ZDZ 80. It was the best choice for me. I loved it! Hover with less than half throttle.

When it comes to lighting the plane. Be careful.. The foam of the wing wont make a big diff in weight and its risky to do without some carbon reinforcements. But thats my opinion.

please don't waste your time on a fuji.don't ask me how i found this out but they are a crap engine, get a zdz,da,3w,anything else.as for drilling the foam it might be a bad idea as you didn'r sheet the wings and can't reinforce them with carbon, yoy won't be able to cut enough out to make any difference and go very lightly on drilling the fuse to.good luck and enjoy it

Yes I built myself, it is a Lanier kit like yours, it came out a bit heavy!! 26 lbs!!! this weight include 30 oz of gas, even I did the lighting holes in the fuselage. I built as the instruction and used a lot of epoxy for the sheeting.
But it flies great anyhow, it doesn't float in for landings it MUST be flown in, one thing you must be aware of is when your on approach be very carefull with your stick movements as it will slow your plane down an it stalls!!
Plane has more than 130 flights in the book and the ZDZ gives it unlimited power.

Aaron I have the Lanier with a Mac Minerelli 85 twin in it. I would love to see what the zdz80 would do in my plane. The Mac is heavy, but she has a good up line, just slow pull out. If you want to cut weight get the foam turtle deck, and one piece canopy wing cover from robert godfreid you wont be disapointed. And definately be careful cutting your holes in the fuse. Have fun Good Luck!
