What about the 3-D hobby shop Katana? There is a build thread going for that one right now. It's a really good looking 50cc plane!

How do you like yours? This is my 2nd 50cc plane and probably the best one I have flown yet. Brady |

Brady,
I've had real good luck with mine, nice and light, does great 3d, better than I can do. My DA-50 has been a rocket right out of the box. There are a couple things that I would have rather seen done different like the control horns and hinges but other than that, I was very pleased with how the plane looked coming out of the box and how it looks in the air. If I had it to do over again, I'd buy another..!!! Scott |

OK, I'm leaning toward the Extreme Flight Yak. It seems that there has been some discussion about the DA50 not performing well in inverted elevators...loading up, sagging, etc ...which hasn't been "fixed" as far as I can tell - though others report no problems. Since I'm looking at the airframe as expendable but the motor as a "long term investment" would the Brillelli be a better choice? It's heavier but stronger so I'm thinking the bigger prop may help get airflow around that big cowl.
Any bad attributes of the Brillelli I should know about? I've heard of DA's for a long time, but never heard of Brillelli before. TIA, Geoerge |

I have a Dietrich 50cc Extra that I have been flying all summer. It has been gread with a DA50 on a pitts. I am getting ready to install a cannister in it. I did not try to lighten it up. I am running 4800 mah liIon on the RX with a regulator and a 2400 pack and reg on the ignition. I am running a carbon prop and all the stock metal tubes and gear. It is 16.5 pounds and performs very well. It powers out of a hover with ease.

The Extreme Flight 88" Yak 54 all the way. I have owned the 50cc QQ Yak an its a nice airplane. Any one who has owned a QQ Yak will tell you its a good airplane,....... But the the Extreme Flight Yak is just a better airplane, especially for 3D and freestyle. The 88" EF Yak made me look good enough to get sponsored by Extreme Flight!!

Although new to the market, I'd consider the 3D Hobby Shop 85" Katana.
http://www.3dhobbyshop.com/detail.aspx?ID=2153 I do development for them, so my opinion is admittedly biased towards the product and need to be clear about that from the beginning. That said, we've tried really hard to include quality hardware and components while keeping the weight as low as possible. AUW with 50cc gas, power expander, A123 pack, stock DL muffler, spinner, Mejzlik prop and Tru Turn spinner is 14 lbs 12 oz. Stock hardware includes carbon wing and stab tubes, carbon tailwheel assembly, aluminum landing gear, double phenolic control horns and ball links, and a full hardware package including fuel tank, control rods, wheels, axles, etc... Anyway, here's a couple of photos... Scott |
