Default Gyro Location on a Hurricane 550

I would like to avoid the high mount on the tail boom block if possible. I expect if I put it under the main shaft it may be hard for the gyro to read movment. Is there any reason it can't be ahead of the mainshaft?

Well it seems to work just fine under the mainshaft. I was wondering if it could sense motion well that close to the "pivot" point. I am no 3D master so the finer points may be lost on me but it is fine for my use.

Nothing wrong with putting ahead of the main shaft. The closer it gets to the pivot point, the more it will affect your gain settings. You might only see it if your flying backwards really fast, or doing piro maneuvers. I run all mine ahead of the main shaft under the canopy.
