Default Indoor Red Bull Air Races... Sounds cool!

Check out this video:

Isn't it an interesting idea?

Since the first time I watched the RBAR on TV, I started wondering how cool it would be to do the same with R/C models. Of course some adaptations would be needed, but it's a great idea nonetheless. Seems like someone already did it, and note how many people attended... Got potential I'd say.

You bet. We have been thinking of doing this with special modified foamies here in Dayton. I came up with the idea of using fiberglass poles like you see for tent poles or bicycle flags, sticking them into the ground and then sliding foam pipe insulation over the top. These would make the pylons. We had the whole event planned out here at OMP and had some local guys all thinking about it. Just have not had the time and now the weather is starting to turn. just not enough time for all the fun and games.

Needs to be faster!!!! Standard foamies are too slow for this type of flying, stick to 3-D for those.

I agree plus it is too quiet! I think there should be a speaker with the volume hooked to your throttle channel and a smoke cartridge on the foamie! Now wouldn't that be cool.

I wasn't involved in doing this, I just found this video on the internet and found really interesting!!

In any case, I'd guess that the cones are made of nylon, probably in a similar fashion as the "real" cones of the full size RBAR.

Hehe, doing this on Stonehenge would be cool!! The contrast between the ages (ancient x modern) would be a nice touch also.
