Well where to start .... The South Island aerobatic comp for the year is just around the corner and it would be great to see everyone there. Due to the scheduled date of the 8th and 9th of December clashing for too many people we have pushed it out 1 week, so the comp will now be the 15th and 16th of December. Please make sure everyone is aware of this, I hope this will be suitable for most people.
The format for this big weekend will be: Saturday - Pattern and maybe IMAC? This will primarley be Pattern comp as advertised, however if there is sufficient time and interest then we will run a couple of rounds of IMAC aswell. Sunday - Freestyle Aerobatic Expo. We ran this event in CHCH last year and despite the weather it was quite a hit. Basically this is a relaxed get together where everyone can fly 3D / Aerobatics, if your plane loops then bring it!! The idea of this is for everyone to have a go at breaking away from 'scheduled' aerobnatics and there will be plenty of reasonable pilots around that will be able to give you plenty of hints and tips. Sunday will also include a Massive prize draw!! We are still sorting the finer details of this, but basically it will be sponsored by Jason Pickering from Model Airworks and Smart-Fly Electronics. There will be plenty of good prizes on offer. This prize draw is for the past 2 years worth of entrys to all the South Island Pattern and IMAC comps, so as you can imagine there is a significant amount of money involved in the prizes!! I will release an email with more details about this nearer the time. We are hoping to have the BBQ running over lunchtime both days, it will be $2 a sausage. I have attached a flyer with some more details of the events, please pass this around to as many fliers as you can we are aiming for record numbers!! |

Please note the change of date... we do apologise if there is any conflict but one of the organisers (myself) and more importantly the sponsor, were unavailable on the original date.
Feel free to use this forum to vent your frustrations, or hopefully offer your support for the event. With your help we can make this weekend a successful one and continue to hold these in the future. Also please support our sponsors - Smart-Fly (www.smart-fly.com/) and Model Airworks (www.modelairworks.co.nz) and thank them for their generosity. So who's going?? I'll be there for sure! |

Hi Steve
IMAC is really just starting out in the South Island this year. We've had a couple of successful Competitions down in Dunedin and flown a couple of rounds in Christchurch. I've been working on the calendar for next year and I can say we have 7 rounds of IMAC scheduled in the South Island for 2008. At this stage they are all located in either Christchurch or Dunedin but if you are able to drum up a bit of interest around the Nelson/Marlborough region then we could start to look at expanding up north. Cheers Patrick |

Another new rule - All 3D to be done with your 45% Edge 540! That way we can get rid of it for you so you can finally have an excuse to go out and buy a composite...
As for your Air Dams... thats a random question to be asking in this thread? I have installed a couple of 25mm x 20mm perspex flaps that are fixed at about 45 degrees. they are along the lines of what was suggested in the Comp ARF 2.6m Extra 300sx instruction manual. They seem to do the trick for me, haven't had any heat related problems so far. |

Haahh, good reply Moped
I was talking to Alec about this on the phone the other night. "my extra260" the 2M PBG Extra 260's 3D bloody well, just watch Frazer do a demo with one some time. Have a great comp guys, we might have to follow your lead and organise a 3D event up here. Cheers Alan |
