My eyes are bleeding from digging through pasts posts about yaks........and have left things fairly inconclusive on choosing one, almost made things worse! The motor chice is easy, DA 50! AW QB, QQ, SD, others. I live in CO, so I would get great AW support. EVERYONE has them out here though, and I am not huge on the covering design. I have read they are boarderline heavy???????? QQ looks solid, but have read it might not fly 3d as good others???????? SD looks trick, but It looks like parts are hard 2 get, and it might have quality issues. Is there currently a yak out there that really stands out across the board????

QQ yaks not fly 3D well?
You might want to re-look into that one. QQ yaks fly amazing, 3D well and imac just as good. AW Yaks are great if you want to have a plane done is 5 hours. The Extremeflight Yaks are HUGE for a 50cc class plane and fly amazingly well. And the SD/Thunder Tiger Yaks fly very nicely as well, and quality has never been an issue with them. Basically in the 50cc Yak class its probably best if you go with your Gut and get the one that appeals to you most. All are great fliers. My personal choice if I was looking for a 50cc Yak would be the ExtremeFlight Yak. I have owned a few EF products and loved them, and his planes are BIG.. and I like BIG planes. (but not heavy)

try a sukhoi. www.dawghouserc.net. planes will be here Dec 10. You can get a 3MM TOC 53cc engine in a combo that cant be beat. the 3mm is only $399 and is an excellent motor as well.

I don't know where you are, but we are in Colorado Springs, my son and I have the SD yak 54 87".
very nice airplane, we putting in the Evolution 58, same as MVVS 58. I figure the extra power at our altitute would not hurt. Shuting for 16.5 lbs. Zee |

if you want a yak buy the best EF 88'',and if your flying in the mountains forget the da 50 and go for a 60cc engine.it is the best flying plane i ever had! mine came in at 17.5 lbs. with a 58gx and a ES pipe, most are at 17-18 lbs. with a light 50.the plane does the CLEANEST knife edge loops that any plane can do, no stick input other than rudder, they are so easy to do with this plane.
i have the EF 87" yak and it has never been flown sense i got the 88". |

I purchased a 88" EF Yak to fly for my easy Winter plane....This thing flies better than my old Comp-Arf 2.6 Yak...(sold in October and replaced with Comp-Arf 3.0 Yak). DA-50 with ES Composites tuned pipe rocks...

IMO, the Extreme Flight R/C is the best all around 50cc Yak. There are 2 different color schemes to choose from. I have the original and the new 88" Yak. The origianal flys very well. It's hard to believe, but the 88" is even bigger and flys better.

Thanks, I think I am looking at the SD or EF from your advice. The EF is definately the leader! But the sd just looks sweet, and a year ago alot of people were sayin the sd was the way to go (i did alot of diggin) Is there any negatives to the SD from troybuilt???? Positives?????And I think I have the cash for a 75cc, would you guys skip the 50cc "step" and go 75cc if you could just have 1 plane??????Thanks!871
