Lanier 94" Yak ???

Has anyone one seen one of these planes? It is an 80cc size. The Lanier site says there new? I don't know how long they have been out. Any info would be nice. I have read quite a few threads on the 87" one.

I actually have one of these kits/arfs and it looks nice. It's still in the boxes but i plan to build it over the winter. I figure it'll be a good home for a DA85. If anyone has actually built and flown this bird i'd like to know what you think about it.

I'd really like to keep the weight down as much as possible too.

I have one, have been flying the carp out of it and love it. After the second flight it has not come off of high rates on the controls, it is very axial in the air and responds like a foamy. Mine came out very lite in the 20# range and doesn't like to land because it is so lite, it has a ZDZ Super 80 on it and that is more than enough for it. The only things you need to toss in your extras box and put different on is the wheels (all 3) the tail wheel is too soft needs a higher quality one, the mains will come apart at about flight 6 and if you don't notice break your wheel pants. I pit a Ohio Superstar medium tail wheel on mine which steers much better too than the stock, and a pair of micro lite stiff foam in the mains and the plane rolls much better.
For set up I have 2 5955s on the rudder mounted in the tail, and the rest are 5997s which is more than enough, I mounted the throttle and choke servos by the tank and tried to put as much of the weight on the thrust line (batteries etc.) where the plane would be real axial in the air which I seceded at because it knife edges with no elevator impute. I guess I got the weight right because it is hands off both upright and inverted but not heavy in the tail where the tail drops on landing (It will harrier land real well too). You will enjoy it when you get it done, I am already getting it on the deck because it is rock solid in a harrier and hover and anything you do at low speed.

Ordered one on Sunday, should be here on Friday, March 21, 2008. I see a Hong Kong Twin 100 for $509.00, and a Fuji BT86 from Tower for $699.00. Don't know if an 85 cc will be enough at 4,000 ft. altitude. My first gasser, been flying 1.20 to 1.50 size Nitro stuff, so setup will be new to me. I have several buddies with 33 to 46% er's so I should have some help. Trying to stay on a budget in case I don't like the bigger bird...

DA-85 will be more than enough at that altitude.

I have a question about servos. Been looking at putting Hobbico CS-150 Std Digital High Torq 2BB MG Servo U would this work. I would be running a 6v and ther servo is rated at 193oz / 21sec. Thanks Matt

Go with the HD 9150 at Hobby City. You can also get them at Troy Built, but you'll pay more.

These are a no brainer for my 33% Lanier Extra and Yak when I get around to building them. Using them now on my Aeroworks Katana. Are you the same person that posted on RCU?

There is however one caveat; The 9150 is a little deeper than say the Hitec Equivalant (5645). This shouldn't be a problem since both Laniers' elevator servos are mounted on the fuse. I think they are too deep for stab mounting in a 30%. Hope this info is helpful.

Pretty good prices for those servos, thanks for the information..!! I used a coupon code for a FPE 5.8 online, got it for $629.00 shipped. A couple of guys on FG say they have the FPE 5.8 and the DA 100, and the FPE is as mooth or smoother than the DA. So we'll see, I just don't have room to build anything right now, soon I hope...!!!

Hey Steve,

Thanks for the servo help. What about an engine? Looking at the DL100. Going to need enough power where i fly at 7200ft elevation. And i want to get unlimited vertical. Any comments welcome. Thanks Matt

I think the engine should fit without having to cut the cowl for the plug caps. Someone placed a DA 100 inside the cowl at RCU and the engine seems to have ample room. I'll also be going with a 100cc engine. For me it will be the DL 100. I'm in NM, elevation around 5000'. A 100cc should fly that Yak well. It will probably come in @ 20.5 - 21.5lbs. It will fly like a foamy.
