Is it worth crashing a plane you have alot of money invested in just to use one servo per aileron? I feel i rather be safe than sorry! I run 5945's in the tail end of my 90 size Showtime.

KISS: HELL NO!!! Go with two. You will get comfy and that one maneuever that is to much is all it is going to take to destroy your aircraft.

Crackedup, Just recieved it yesterday. Needs a new cowel but they are all over that and probably already on the way TBM guys are to notch! I just did not like recieving any manual or spec sheet on CG etc. I got no paperwork at all.
Guess it is Dl'ing another PDF file to print.

I ordered mine through Chief and no manual. I just down loaded it and printed it. Two rudder servos though you won't be sorry.

OK guys thanx for the input.

Here is what my setup will be.... HS 5955TG all the way around with 4 for the Aileronds and 2 for the rudder but I may try and mount them in the tail for direct drive pull-pull with H9 Titanium rods. So one servo on either side of the fuse. Or do something like this:

Air Wild MLP Aluminum Arms all the way around. I also do not like those black plastic normal type control horns and have already installed dowls on the Elevator halves that have been drilled and tapped for an 8-32 bolt so I can usae either the H9 or DuBro threaded control horns. I will be doing the same thing for the Ailerons and Rudder.

Futaba 3151 for throttle or something similar and just a HS525 or something for choke. Smart-Fly Optical Kill switch, 2 x Fromeco 2600 Relion packs through a Smart-Fly Failsafe Regulators with Badger switches for the JR 9303 2.4 GHz Rx. 1 x Fromeco 2600 Relion through Smart-Fly Ignition Regulator with Badger Switch for Ignition. May also use the Smart-Fly Power Expander Pro but haven't decided yet. We'll see how the weight turns out first.

Engine is DA 85 with JTEC Oversized Pitts Inverted Muffler with Air Wild NX Series 26 x 10 for braeakin.

Just ordered CFWing and Stab tubes from TBM. Holding off on CF gear to I see what the ballance is like depending on rudder servo(s) final placement. This will also determine if I use CF or AL spinner.

Here are some shots of what I have done so far. First one shows the dowl with the 8-32 threaded whole. I also oversized th eopening in the stab to alow clearence for the Air Wild MLP servo arms. I don't do 3D so I am using short arms and want to get the most travel out of the servo so I had to loose some balsa in the process to do this.

The Red is the top and blue is the bottom of the Stab/Elevator.

The colour scheme is very simple the hard part are the graphics. They were done for my by Dennis at Kirby's Graphics.

I am going with one servo on the rudder. But it will be the seiko ps-050 If you want one servo. It is a bit big but this is the route I am going. Works in a 42% and just one. Over 600 oz torquewooo baby
Check it out : http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/SeikoDurant.htm

I also have this bird. I fly with one JR 8711 on my rudder and have no issues. Just make sure you run at least 6.0 volts. I had some issues getting the slack out of my cables on rudder with full deflection, but the 4 inch offset SWB servo arm fixed all my issues. Also, no problems with the ZDZ 80RV for power, pulled by a Vess 26A.

33% SD Yak, DA-100, 5955 in the back, all carbon goodies, & 23 1/4 pounds dry. Flys too much like a over powerd foamie. Pulling the 100 out and installing the DA-85, with a pound & a half lighter engine, it will still fly like a over powerd foamie.

RVBlack,

I see you went with DuBro threaded control horns as well, good call.

Thanx for the pic of the pic of the tail. Is that one 5955 on either side of the fuse for the rudder? Threade 4-40 rod in a CF tube for pushrod?..If you read the stuff on the DA 85v you will see that with it and a pound and a half lighter it will be MORE of an insane foamy then with the 100!

I had one 5955 on the rudder, it worked ok, but that rudder is too big for the plane. I pulled the 5955 out and put the 8711 in. have not flown it yet, still installing the 85 & it's 4 degrees with wind chill.

I am ordering the carbon fiber goodies this week for mine. I was wondering if anyone has the carbon tube on there Yak and if so, did you need to sand the inside of the slot to fit it. I read somewhere that they are to large, I believe the size is (38mm x 950 x 1.2mm).

I have the stab and wing tube(carbon fiber), i order through TBM. The stab tube and wing tube were a little snug but nothing hard at all. You will have to cut them down to size though.
