Merinodds, you will want to use the KS 95 rear exhaust for best performance, it will give you "to much" power.I have one with that set up.

That's good to hear as that is the setup I have in mine. I came in at about 24 lbs. What is your weight. I have not flown mine yet. Snow just finished melting here, now waiting for the field to dry up but rain slatted alll this weekend. ![]()

Not trying to hijack but quick thoughts on these setups.
We'd like your input on this: (this is paraphrased from another post) We (4 of us) are about to embark on a multiple build. The brown truck arrives this Monday with 213.3 lbs of RC junkie eye candy. After researching and reading all the info we could find here and elsewhere, we have decided to take the light & minimalist approach. Here's our thinking: JR/Spektrum 2.4 gHz SD 33% Yak DA-85 Menz 26-10 J-Tec Pitts Wrap Around (lightest setup, noise not an issue) Single A123 Pack for everything (3 leads, 2 into Rx, 1 to Ig.) Single JR HD Switch Single 5955TG in each aileron Dual 5955TG on elevator Single 8711 on rudder Hitec 225 on throttle All Carbon Upgrades (LG, Wing Tube. Stab Tube) SWB 2" arms all around They should build out to 19.5 lbs with this setup. We'll keep everyone posted on the tests. We have 4 airframes with different props to try with the DA-85. We've heard the Mezjlik 27-10TH is a winner and we have one. Also have the Xoar 26-10 and would like to try the Vess 26B and the NX 26-10. Brian

I tached 2 zdz engines 1 was run in very well the other is just broken in. With a PT Model 26x10 prop it was spinning 5800. That seems low to me so I ordered a couple vess props, a 26a and b. Then my drill press **** the bed. So i have to get a new one to drill the prop. I do not trust myself to drill it straight.
Delrin going to take pics now.

the auw is 22lbs ,throttle is restricted to 75% in a throttle curve and getting 6900 on a 26B, with the curve removed we are getting 7300 on a Vess 27B.

Jason,
Sweet. Russian Thunder. They were out of that scheme so I opted for the Team Scheme (#02). The four of us got 01, 02, 03 & 05. I picked last because I liked them all. I will do some custom checkers on the team scheme where the silver tear away is. I have a vinyl graphics business so I like to add a bunch of detail. Did you get to fly it? Skunk, It seems the DA-85 is a powerhouse? DA at Toledo said they like the Mezjlik 27-10TH the best for thrust and rpm. Did you have to make custom standoffs for the DA-85 for cowl clearance? DA suggests hard mounting the 85 with no aluminum standoffs. Brian

Brian, I did not get to fly it. yesterday would of been perfect but I had my 2 year old son all day. It seems when the weather is good I have no time and when I have time the weather is junk. I am hoping to fly on tuesday and just about ready to start praying. I want to put this thing in the air real bad. I keep hearing how good they fly and I want to experience it
![]() If I did not have a ZDZ RV80 laying around my plane surely would of received a DA-85 as well. A vinyl business ya say. Maybe you can help me out? I have been looking for a ZDZ sticker to put on top of my cowel. A big ZDZ kind of stacked on top of each other on fire. Can you do that? You are close enough where I can come out and help decide maybe? Shoot me a PM if interested.

22 lbs, wow that's really light. I got mine as an ARC so I could do my own scheme. When I unpacked it several of the bottom stringers and ply formers were damaged yet there was not a mark on the box. Looks like the guy packing it at the factory dropped it on the corner of his shipping desk or something as the damage looks like puncture wounds with the stringers broken up into the fuse, I was just going to replac the broken balsa ones but then decided to replace all the bottom stringers with 5mm square spruce instead. I was also talking to DA and they said they had some reports of the DA85 shakig the motorbox apart on this plane because of week joints so I also decided to "armour plate" the engine box Next additional weight was installing cannister sytem. More weight from helmuted pilot but he looks cool. My all up weight on the hatc/canopy alone is 1 Lbs 3.2 ounces.

The two pictures in the previous post showing wood on the scaleis to show first the weight of the balsa stringers removed then the second one shows the weight of the spruce and some 1/32 bly and some 1/8" sheet used. I only gained 1.6 ounces going to the spruce.
I added a 3/16" Plate to the firewal on the outside and used 1/8" lite ply to sheet from behind the firwall back to the wing tubes as a doubler to stiffen the sides. Here are some more pics of the motor box and some of my scheme.

Just curious...what is the motivation to hit 19 lbs? I was just wondering because when mine was in at 24 lbs....I absolutely loved it. I would NOT have wanted it any lighter. Just curious, Neo |
