Got it today! I love my scheme (team scheme-02) and the DA-85. I'm starting to build it tomorrow.
Neo, 2 mil cast vinyl doesn't weigh much. A couple grams per square foot. It's the silicone backing paper and application tape that's heavy. They advertise it at 19.5 lbs. We are taking the minmalist approach. 1 battery pack. 1 servo per aileron. DA-85 w the lightest muffler (J-Tec small volume). All carbon upgrades. No spinner. No wheelpants. No cockpit, just blacked out. 1 rudder servo. We will weigh them on an accurate scale and keep everyone posted. 19 lbs is not out of the question by any means. Lighter flies better..... Imagine your plane 5 lbs less. Brian

bringing this thread back because i am just now starting to build my SD yak.
i will be using a da 85, and i'm trying to decide on which canister muffler to use. i was planning to use a ks95, but it is a very tight fit. what canisters have been used before, and with what header? thanks tony |

Hey Mr. Tony,
Good to fly against you this past weekend. I have a 33% SD Yak that I have been flying in IMAC. I would have been flying it at Pax but the engine was off getting fixed. Anyway, I have a ZDZ super 80 with the JMB tuned canister which is very big I might add. The fit is snug but not too bad so the KS 95 should be fine. Your not replacing your Carden are you? Neil

no, definitely not replacing the carden, at least not until i'm done building the new carden i have in my shop.
this plane is for hucking (or trying anyways) so it will have large control throws and since its an arf, i won't be too upset if (when) i wreck it. i'm trying to decide between the ks95 can and the mtw td110. i think the td110 would be easier to install cause its smaller in diameter. what is the diameter of your jmb? do you have any pics of your jmb installed, showing the mount and clearances? thanks tony |

What new Carden do you have on your Table? I have a Carden 300 on my table at the moment. I will get some pictures of the setup for you.

Go with the TD110. I had to cut some formers to get the KS95 in mine and the 110 wil be a little quieter to.

What has happened to SD Models that Thunder Tiger bought them out? They use to be the thing to fly, I understand that Ace Hobby is their distributor but really don't see much about them, I would like to have a 35% Yak if I could get support for it (spare parts, ect.)

Hey guys...i know this thread has been around for qiute awile , but you guys that are using the 3W-80/85 motors with a canister setup......what header are you using? My buddy had an original header that was made from Aviation models on his and is now no longer able to use it.
Anyone who can give me some info on where to get a header for the 3W 80/85 with about "0" drop....it would really help out. Thanks guys. |

I'm looking at putting a can on mine also before the flying season begins agian. Is the 110 the right can? I'm also thinking about trying to modify the fuse to accept the new RE3. Do you think this is possible?
