Thinking about maybe starting my privats next year (spring) got any good books for me to read or that are worth reading?

I listen to this all the time. It has been around for about 4 years now. Very cool to hear the major traffic @ DFW, and LAX. I listen to KSNA (john wayne, Orange County)

this actually works well for guys starting their private ticket. It allows you to become accustomed to the radio traffic, and practice responding to the tower as you would if you were PIC.

If you ever get an answer doing that, you might have problems though...

When I was first taking lessons, I would listen to my scanner on the local ATC frequencies to get used to the jibber jabber going on. It helps a ton. Once you get an idea of how to communicate in their language, it's a piece of cake. I was taught to just tell them.....1. Who you are(Cessna.N*****), 2. Where you are(at the Northwest hanger, or wherever you are), 3. What you want to do(ready to taxi wherever). Here's an example... Barksdale Ground(who you are talking to), Cessna Four Eight Niner Seven Hotel(N4897H) is at the aero club ready to taxi VFR for the North Training Area. That who you are, where you are and where you wish to go on departure. They will tell you... Cessna 4897H altimeter is 97.66 winds 010 at 160 clear to taxi to runxway 15. I could go on and on but you get the idea. Just a wierd version of english. Also, if you plan to start flying, invest in the private pilot package from King Schools. You can study at your own pace at home if you dont catch on during ground school. I went through the king course before I started ground school so when I got there, I breezed through it. You can learn everything you need to know and then some with this course. Good Luck and Stop Dreaming, Go Flying.

P.s. stay away from the Dallas or LA frequencies unless you want to be amazed or completely lost and confused LOL
