no that doesnt sound good, dont have to yell though, every motor can have failures, ive read lots of good stuff about DLE and its obvious they have taken alot of customers from DA, thats the main point i was trying to make

Got an DL that has had 2 bearing failure at 2 differnce times, first time it was taken care of but not second time. But I solved the problem by moving to a DA.

I would say that DL has opened giant scale up to a lot of people that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it. I'm sure they have taken some business from DA and 3W and BME but I would argue that it's probably not as much as people think. I would bet a good number of DL pilots could only afford the DL anyway. Of course there are people that buy it just because it's cheaper even though they could afford a big name engine. But you can't argue the number of posts of DL bearing failures and engine seizures. Don't get me wrong, buying a DL and getting into giant scale is definitely better than sitting on the side lines and watching.

Back to the topic..... I can't wait to see that first video of a 110 with a 120 on it! My 100L runs pretty dang good though and I'd have balance issues if I was to yank it and put in the half pound lighter 120. But if someone were to show up with a 120 in a 110 I could be persuaded.

Hey John.
It's so cold in my basement shop I've preferred to stay upstairs by the fireplace. I did do some ajusting on the DX-7 though, I zeroed out the trims on the front & the subtrim, and lowered the travel adjustments down to 100. Both subtrim and travel adjustments were all over the map. Next I think I'll adjust the arms so all are exactly parallel to the hinge line. They are very close now, but I'll try to get them closer. Guess I'll do this by working servos one at a time using their individual matchboxes. After that, I'll move on to setting neutral & end points first for the inboard servo (as you've suggested) then on the outboard one. May be something I forgotten here but I'm pretty much going to stick with the numbered list one of the guys provided earlier on and see what happens. Wish you were closer, I'd HIRE you to come over & show me how to do this in person!

i got a zdz100 in mine and its lighter than the 100L, i didnt have much problem balancing at all, stock muffs, one bat up front, 2 reciever batts kinda by the rudder area, im hands off inverted, a touch more forward cg might be nice but leaving where it is, anyway i would think balancing shouldnt be bad with the 120, have to look again but it may be close to my zdz100, a nice swap out for me....

a little heathy competition from engine manufactures is a good thing no matter where it comes from or which you prefer, keeps them inovative and cost effective for us, all good things, id love to see the big 3(da,3w,zdz) all drop the prices on big twins by 200 or so at least, still be more than a china engine but may sway more people to buy them if its within $200 or so from a dl....example, dle111 for 750 or da 120 for 999, guess which one id get

Hey guys quick question.... I have 7 neoprene bonded washers that came with my yak. Are these strictly for the cowl? I was reading in the instructions and it says to use 4 securing the stabs to the fuse leaving me only 3 for the cowl. Also what size are these washers? Thinking of getting some extras from home depot or lowes....Thanks in advance

Hey John.
lol. You'd not be much warmer here. The high today was below freezing, the low tonight will be 14. That's why I've not been spending much time in the shop lately. My brother is coming over tomorrow morning. He's much better at this stuff than I am. I'll let you guys know how it goes...

It usually isn't quite this cold. But even on "normal" days we have this huge range of temperatures and humidity. It REALLY screws with the covered balsa planes and their engines. The difference is so pronounced that, with the engines, it often requires needle tweaking between the morning & afternoon flying sessions to keep them running well.

Went back to a Mej 27 x 10 on the DA 100 and the response was good but after switching to a 27 x 10 TH the response was excellent with only a slight loss in vertical acceleration.

Bottom line is that I completely disagree with your statement based on running a comparison (sea level and a typicla 95 degree ambient). Disclaimer - results may vary for any of us given a large number of potential variables.

The new 120 will certainly make life interesting for all of us. Now we have another great option from an excellent company that has earned our trust and respect.
Im glad you both got better results but here the 85 and 100 got about the same rpm with the 100 out torguing the 85 both on the same mejzlik 28x10. Both setups were in the 6450 - 6500 rpms. The piped 85 had nothing until it got on the pipe at high rpms the hundred had it all through the rpms. There was almost no weight diff and the hundred was way way more reliable. All points better than the 85 with the only advantage the 85 setup was 4 ounces lighter.

Edit: PS Seems like a lot of people act like the fater spool up is more important than increase in thrust. From flying a lot of props on a a few motors The best thing a prop can do is increase thrust fast and linear. The 27x10th has a slightly faster spool up speed but it feels like is slipping a clutch while the 27x10 has a slightly slower spool up speed but the thrust kicks in faster and through he whole range of rpms. The 28x10 didnt act sluggish on my 100 or my friends but it has a slow speed range and low top speed which I didnt like. The 27x10 mejzlik had the best compromise for thrust, linear increase in thrust, speed and spool up speed of all the props i have used on DA100.
The 27x10TH is def the best prop on a da85 unpiped. I dont know what he best prop for the piped 85 is but the 28x10 isnt it IMO

The Bonded washers are for the cowl...we dont use them on the stabs...regular flat washers are used on the stabs.
