You can't go wrong either way. Mine is neutral with batteries next to the gas tank. |

With a DA-100L and RE2's the batteries end up between the rudder servos and the wing tube. I have the 2 RX batteries just behind the rudder servos with a DA100(old style) and Greve pipes. |

T-moller, get the DA120. I have chatted with Chris on this and he is saying that it is the perfect engine. About 8oz lighter than the DA100L, gonna be minimally more cost and lots more power.
I run an old DA100 on ES composite pipes with a Mej 28 X 10 and have great vertical. Hover pullout is authoritive and I have never felt starved for power, but I would love a DA120. Jeff Williams

Thanks Charls & Jeff,
Yes the DA 120 would be awesome. Can't wait to start on it but I know it will be slow going due to funds and lack of work. Sold my Aeroworks 94" yak to buy the EF Yak and pay some bills. Hopefully the economy will improve a bit and I can stat to get busy again. tm |

id like to get the da120 too but i have to admit at literally half the cost with mufflers the dle111 is a reasonable option, i know in the begining the dl's were cosnidered a da rip off and allot of people bashed them for numerous reasons, but in my opinion they have become a ligitemate motor company now, im getting a dle55 for a plane myself soon, ive seen several of the 55's at my field and i am impressed, and there is people that have had them now for 1-2 years and they are holding up, so its no longer a "throw away" cheap engine....im content with my zdz100 for now but i do want to get more out of it eventually and it will be between the dle111 or the da120, unfortunatly money is a major factor in my budget, and the difference is another 50cc airframe

Hello,
Im real close to ordering 110 yak, Is the preformance good on the stock mufflers? Or do I need tuned pipes? If tuned pipes are recomended I would have to go with a DLE 111 ver. the DA do to my budget. Thanks all. |

im on stock mufflers with a zdz100, it is not as powerful as dle or da, i feel i have just enough to keep me happy, im betting a da or dle with stock muffs would be just fine in my opinion, here is a vid with my zdz stock muffs, 27A vess, it has enough to get down low and feel comfortable with pull out, there is other vids once you see that one too, some in tucson where is is higher and hotter, still had just enough

For those looking for an alternative to the Mej 28-10..... you might try the PT 28-10.
The pull out of a hover is only slightly softer than the Mej 28, but the PT has better down line breaking and is noticeably quieter. |

i have one 8711, been in there over a year now and still holding up, no jr shakes yet, if it ever goes i will replace it with the new hitec version, 7950 i think it is, i see no need to go to 2, ive never noticed any blow back or issues with a single...back to the pipes, i was thinking about that, i think the only reason id consider pipes is if noise was an issue, either at your club or any you visit or plan to go to for contests or anything, pipes would be a little quieter and give more top end unlike cans that may hurt performance, i personally dont think 100s are too loud with stock muffs, ive heard 150s and 170s on stock and they were loud, i know of only one club that my buddies had issues with and that was back in mesa az, they would check your plane and if it was too loud you couldnt compete, most other fields let you fly but may ding you some points, so is it worth the $500-600 or more to run pipes for a field i go to once a year? no not for me...im planning on stocks even if i get the 111 or 120....i may just stick with the zdz too, it would just be nice to have a tad more power but we'll see how money progresses this year

I flew mine for a season in IMAC with a DA-100 and stock mufflers. Performance wasn't an issue. I went to the ES composite pipes to quiet it down a litttle. Getting ready to build my second one since the last one was lost in a midair. |

It's not a problem at our club or at any of the clubs we flew at. I just wanted it a little quiet. |
