Chris and I have compared the planes together, his with the 85 and pipe and mine with the DA 100 when I had the MTW TD75's, by the way that plane I had ate a tree..... Anyway, both planes had Mejzlik 28-10 2 blades and both were turning between 63 and 6400, however his plane was just over 26lbs. and mine was 28 so obviously he had better performance and the 85 powered Yak flew lighter.

If you don't already have the 100 and won't be doing the plane right away I would recommend holding off and getting the DA 120. Chris and Tony Russo have been flying the 110" Yaks with the 120 on stock mufflers and the performance has been outstanding. It'll be well worth the little extra money for the 120. Lee

i just set up mine with 2 recievers for the 1st time doin that to any plane, i set it up with right side ail and ele on one, with my choke servo, my question is lets say i have the "main" one fail, i kill the motor with my choke and just have 1 of each surface now, would it be better to have the opposing ail with ele? will anything wierd happen while trying to control it with both movable surfaces on one side? im thinkin about moving the ail to left side and keeping right ele, my thinking is maybe it would be better to have the working ele in a wind stream that is more clear than having an ail moving in front of it, make any sense? does it really matter? i know the plane would be wacky anyway with just one ele it may roll or something if givin too much, obviously the main goal would be getting down as quickly and safely as possible, just wondering if any benefit to change the way i have it now

They said that they're not making a "list" yet, but will let us all know on here when they do.

How tough is the 110? Well, after14 months of hard flying, one ugly dead stick rebuild and a bunch of brutal harrier landings I have had to do a few "minor" repairs.
This Sunday I was doing harriers and dragging the rudder down the runway and through the weeds and ripped off half of the right elevator and 1/4 of the stab. Kept on flying, harriers, snaps, knife edge circles with snaps, rolling circles, etc. Absolutely no mercy. Another great flight. The fuse and rudder look like they have been through a meat grinder (they have). Everything has been broken and repaired. Stabs are busted and the tips look like I used a belt sander on them. The cowl looks like it was smashed flat and glue back together (it was). They pipe tunnel has been crushed and repaired. The tail wheel is now a tail skid. And numerous other minor (& major) dings. So throw it in the trash? Hell no. I called EF first thing Monday morning and talked to Curtis. New stabs were shipped that day. I just happen to have a spare fuse, cowl and rudder. After I finish up the only orginal parts in the 110 will be the wings, wing & stab tube, landing gear and the canopy. Then it is back work. I may nick name the plane "Demo Derby". Kinda fits and is a very accurate discription. BTW, the prop and spinner are just fine...... And yes I am on the list for the 123". Last edited by Ground Pounder; 02-02-2010 at 11:57 AM. |
