3 BIG BOXES arrived today. Wow she looks good no damage found at all. Only thing I see is some silver overspray all over on the inside of the canopy. Can't see how they could get silver on the inside since there is no silver painting on the out side. Will call Curtis and ask. It must be some sort of defuser to help keep it cool on the inside.

Now all I need is some funds to buy the rest of the stuff, engine, pipes & headers, servo's etc.

I had the same crap all over mine!!!! Used Motzenbockers lift off (from home depot) to get it off. Took a good hour and a half but i got a nice clear finish now. In other news I am on hold yet again because of more missing hardware. First thing tomorrow off to the hobby shop!

What other characteristics does it effect in flight? I was wondering if they shouldn't be a little bigger. I have a set on my 48" EF Extra 300 that seem to cover more of the wing tip/aileron area. Interesting concept and experiment.....
keithw124 - Also wondering what thickness wood you used?

I've pretty much made up my mind on getting one of these. Only question i have is engine choice. Money is kinda tight so i like the DA combo from EF. But the extra power from the soon to be released DA 120 sounds tempting. How is the power on a 100 with standard muffs? Also any chance for EF to do a combo price on the 120 when its released?

Ultracote, True Red

I would imagine we will have a combo, but it could be a little ways off.....

there is many posts throughout the thread that a 100 on stock muffs is plenty of power for the plane, 120 would be very nice, but is not truly needed

I have a da 100 (old style) on mine with stock mufflers.. Pulls it with plenty of authority. Hovers right under half throttle. I was using a pt 28x10 carbon prop and pullout was OK so I bought a xoar 27x10 to try.. if you are planning to run tuned exaust then expect to use a 28x10. I even added smoke to mine late in the season and the plane did notice a little weight but handles it well. I just took the smoke system out as I had trouble with the pump and it ads weight. The worst part of the smoke to me was reminding me of a 100cc GLOW airplane. I hate oily mess and this plane has a lot of square inch's to clean.. You cant go wrond with the good da 100 combo. If I were you I would buy the plane and a good used da100. They are getting cheaper now because of the 120. Or if you were buying the airplane/engine combo new I would opt for the 120 as the cost difference wouldn't be much over the total price..

BTW.. I have been happy with the da100 combo but I just got a steal of a price on a NIB 3w 106 TOC.. I dont have a plane for it at the moment but I was think it would be a HOSS on my EF yak.. What do you guys think?? I hate to ruin a good setup because my da100 is super reliable..

I'm putting together this Yak and I'm running a BME 110 for power which has been working very well. Has anyone used this engine with canisters and if so, what brand canisters did you use? The Yak canister/pipe tunnel appears small and my JMB's wont fit due their large diameter.
