I think the cans actually add a little nose weight. Reza balanced the plane he wrote the manual with with the batteries on the rudder tray using stock mufflers. We figured the cans made it a little more nose heavy. Quique is using Greeves pipes and also needed to mount batteries in the turtle deck, yet they both have ignition batteries on the nose. I guess it just depends on what your setup is. Keep in mind prop and spinner type will change things also.

MXcop so you said with yours balanced right at 85 it needed very little down from inverted for level flight?

Yes, just a little push when inverted yet needs a little pull on landing. That's the way the plane flies. When flying precision it is locked in and feels very solid, yet when you slow it down and flip to high rates it comes unlocked and 3D's awesome. It's a different feel that you have to get used to. This is the most responsive plane I've flown to date. Control response when 3Ding is foamy like. Be careful with flat spins until you get the feel of the plane. It locks into cetain things faster than a monoplane and requires a little different technique to recover from, something that you will get used to after some flights.

Hey Jerm, I like the looks of my new plane, I mean your new plane. That motor and prop sure looks like mine. Hope it serves you as well as it has me. Let me know if you got a flight in today, raining here.

Mxcop I have flown 3w's forever and am actually using my dads DA 100. With the 3w's you dont need a regulator on the ignition.... do you use one on your DA?

You need a regulator if you use anything over 5 volts. I'm using a Digi Switch which has the regulator built in.

Tony,
I'll weigh mine in the morning, my guess is around 27lbs. Vertical performance seems better than my Gen III Yak which was 27lbs.

Not if you run 4 cell nimh. I use GP 2000mah cells and they are great. KIS principle.

Do you like it better than the Gen III yak?

With the CG issues this plane seems like a prime candidate for a DA 85 - probably would end up at 24.5lbs. (my BME 110 would probably get it to 25lbs)

I think it flies just as well as the Yak, it just takes a little time to get used to it. It is more fun to 3D because it's so responsive. I hope to have a video soon but the weather isn't looking good for this week. It does fly faster than the Yak and is more responsive so some people may like it and some may not.

You've been holding out Worm. Had no idea you were building "my" python. Guess I'm not getting one now, can't have TWO sets of twinkies at the same field. Looks like I'll be shopping for something else now. :24:
