-Do you know of a great deal, but you can't take advantage of it?
Let a Giants brother in on that deal. IE: Found a 40% carden for $300, you know it's a good plane, and a realiable source, but you can't buy it, and you can't transport it,! Why not ...... "Share the Wealth" Post a link to that deal. (Or ask people to PM you if its a phone number type situation) Isn't it better that a FG brother gets the DEAL than somebody else?!?! Please post SUPER deals only... meaning that if the item is $5 less that you can get it at your Local Hobby Store, please hold that info. But if you see the most amazing deal on Ebay, and it ends in 12 hrs, feel free to post a link. Friends dad has a sick deal, and you can't buy it.... post the deal and ask people to PM you, so we are not publicly displaying peoples phone numbers. Just a general comment to no one in particular: This is the SUPER HOOKUP deal thread. Dont waste it by posting every single so so deal you find out there. Self promotion of your own ads is definitely not the intention here. Last edited by Edge 540; 12-07-2007 at 09:36 AM. |

Thanks Edge.
Good call. The thread was meant for GOOD DEALS... Deals that some one will snap up in a matter of a few minutes. I check the swap shop now and again, and I may post something here, but its a DEAL. Here's the "deal" gist. DA 100 New is $1295 (with mufflers) Average used price is $850 - $1000. A SUPER HOOK UP DEAL TO POST ON HERE PRICE IS $700 or $650. because that deal would last 10 minutes on any RC classified site. SO... if you can't scoop up the deal, post it here for a fellow FG member to get.

I just noticed that too. $400 for a 40% Edge! I ran it through and it showed $8.99 for shipping.

I ran it through also... Indicated the standard 8.99 shipping and also a 45.00 shipping surcharge due to it being oversize. Still a great deal at 403.98
I would love to add this to the stable, but I have the feeling that I wouldn't be able to sneak this one in the house with a brand new 30%'er downstairs. |

Any input on the 40% Edge........I've never been crazy about foam wings?
I live in Illinois so I'd have to add sales tax but it still appears to be a good deal. By the way use promotion code 011LH and you'll save another $20! Last edited by Hinckley Bill; 01-16-2008 at 03:09 PM. |

SleepyC...
So you wouldn't recommend "lightening" holes on the wing before sheeting? Bill |

I've seen a few threads where it has been done, but am unsure whether I would try it on one of my planes or not.

In regard to holes in a wing core... different guys have different opinions. You can find a few build threads on here by amazing builders who have hollowed the entire wing structure. But they did it very precisely. I have known a few guys that have cut holes in the elevators rudder and ailerons very successfully. My comment above stemmed from the fact that I have seen MANY foam wing (KIT BUILT) planes doing hard walls and blenders and such and coming out of them time after time in one piece. Where I have personally witnessed a few built up wings on larger aircraft fail. BUT... this is just my opinion... and really thats all it is.. There will be arguments to prove both built up and foam wings are great. So do what ever makes you comfortable.

SleepyC...
Any/all information and opinion provided is always appreciated without reservation.........if I'm not willing to do that then I shouldn't bother asking in the first place.....so thanks for your honesty. I finally gave in late this morning and called my local Hobbytown to order the 40% 540......got the best deal of all, as he placed the order for what appeared to be the last one in stock and will have it in his possesion by tomorrow afternoon.......and there'll be no freight charges so I'll only pay $399 plus tax. How can your go wrong for a 40% for that price! Bill Last edited by Hinckley Bill; 01-17-2008 at 03:24 PM. |

And to be honest, built well, I have heard nothing but good things about that plane.
