The last step on the wings is to attach the SFGs. In all honesty, it is probably better to follow the instruction manual and attach the SFG's before gluing the aileron hinges, but I skipped that step in my build. Just be sure that you have adequate clearance between the aileron and the SFG's when gluing the hinges.
They attach with two wood screws through the SFG into reinforcements in each wing tip. The holes can be found by holding it up to a bright light. I poked holes in the covering with a hobby blade, but a soldering iron works better to melt the covering from the holes. |

Next up is the fuselage.
The wheels fit perfectly onto the axles and are secured with a wheel collar. The axle is then squeezed into the wheel pant. It may take a little wiggling and spreading of the pant, just be careful to avoid damaging the pant and she'll fit just fine. FWIW, the stock model comes with the same color pants as the base color on the airframe (red or blue) - I'm mixing it up a little be subbing out red pants for the blue. The pant uses a really cool design that has a notched side that perfectly accepts the landing gear leg. This eliminates any need for a set screw. Simply slide the axle through the pre-drilled landing gear leg and tighten with the provided self-locking nut. Perfect alignment every time.

Each landing gear leg is then attached to the landing gear plate with the included machine screws and washers.

The tailwheel assembly is made up of a tailwheel wire, bracket, the tailwheel itself, and two wood screws. First, uncover the slot in the bottom of the rudder that will house the wire. Add medium CA to the slot and install the wire fully. I used a 1/16" bit to drill holes for the tailwheel bracket to attach to the bottom of the fuselage. Be sure to harden those holes with thin CA after first tapping them with the wood screws.
To finish the tailwheel off, I added a layer of clear tape over the wire. Probably not necessary, but just an added layer of protection. |

I used my soldering iron to remove the covering over the wing tube slot and its associated retention holes, the horizontal stab slot, and one servo cutout for the elevator. The Velox only requires one elevator servo, but we included two elevator servo locations - one on each side of the fuse - for max flexibility during the installation.
One area we're really proud of with the Velox is the airfoiled tail surfaces. They not only dramatically increase the pitch and yaw authority of the model, they're also much stronger than traditional flat surfaces. No need for external carbon bracing here!!! |

With the soldering iron still hot, I also removed the covering on the belly creating a cooling slot on the belly, and each of the slots on the rudder, and one on the elevator.

Whoops. Skipped a step. You can't attach the tailwheel assembly without first attaching the rudder to the fuse. Two drops of thin CA per hinge is plenty

The rudder control horn has to be centered in the rudder slot before attaching with thin CA. I find its best to center it looking at the rudder from above.

The rudder servo fits perfectly and is secured with the included wood screws. The 3D Hobby Shop phenolic arm set also includes a double arm that is attached to the stock Hitec four pronged servo arm.
