I am just about ready to get started on my yak. Can someone please send me some pictures of the engine and electronics install. I had some pics saved from before but I can not find them. Any building tips would be greatly appreciated.
Here is what i will be using: ZDZ 210 with JMB cans ZM 34" prop Seiko rudder servo 5955's everywhere else Smartfly expander and turbo regulator Two Fromeco 4 cell packs for receiver One Fromeco 2 cell pack for ignition One Fromeco 3 cell seiko driver Fromeco switches Carbon fiber wing tube, stab tube, tail gear and landing gear Kavan 5" tires No wheel pants or spinner. Smokey,
Did you just get the airframe? I was looking yesterday and it seems like SD might not be making the 40% any longer.

I bought the airframe a while ago. You might still be able to order it at Troybuilt.

SMOKEY,
I just put mine in the shed to do a winter overhaul. I bought from a fellow club member and I have been flying for 2 seasons so airframe has some mileage and needs a little work (I did put a new 210 on). I did manage to find a new cowl and canopy from SD's warehouse in CA - hopefully it is on its way across country. SD parts especially 40% are hard to come by from what I am finding. Maybe when ACE/TT gets settled it will be better!!!!!!! I also have a 35% in same color (Purple) that I have not assembled yet - right now I am building a BTE Reaction 54 turbine. I have ZDZ 210 with stock mufflers ZM 34" prop Petes CF spinner Seiko rudder servo 8611A's everywhere else Smartfly expander and turbo regulator Two Fromeco 4 cell packs for receiver One Fromeco 2 cell pack for ignition One Fromeco 3 cell seiko driver SmartFly switches Sullivan smoke pump Hopefully I can take some pics in the next 2-3 days and post or email to you. Your email?? Last edited by dblades; 12-21-2007 at 09:21 AM. |

dblades....Pictures would be great. I'm getting itchy wanting to put this thing together. Does it look like anything needs to be reinforced? Please email the pictures to teamestrella@verizon.net

I just finished mounting a ZDZ 210 on a 40% SD Yak airframe... In the process of finishing up the motor box mods now... I'll take some pics and will post them later today...

It'll be nice and potent with a 210.
Who is 'TT'? Is that Thunder Tigre?

TT is Thunder Tiger.
And the guy that heads the Airframe division "Rocky" is a good dude. He is the guy you want running that part of the company. He flew in from Cali to attend the FIRST Huckfest in Ohio 2006, just to come. Hung out all weekend, and was really in the mix of things. I think TT with Rocky in the lead will make all you SD owners happy.

Oops, I forgot about this thread... I'll post some pics tonight...
The electronics will go right behind the wing tube on the std tray... Batteries will go where ever necessary to get it to balance... I have no idea where it's going to balance with the new engine, but it balanced perfectly with a ZDZ 160 on the nose before the re-kit... I'll probably be moving weight back to get it to balance with the 210...
