Oh great,

Now every building superintendant with a 6th grade education, can operate their own nuclear reactor in the basement.

Sounds like a plan.

Well its about time, but as i saw on NG Chanel it is quit a long time that they have this tech for use in cars, well, the problem is that the cars industry is filling kind of a threat from these electric innovations.

I think it's a breath of fresh air to hear this news.

YEAH!!!! Way too cool!!!

Even if it takes a while for them to come up with high discharge cells for using in our electric powered models, I'd love to get a battery for my computer that lasts 10 times longer... Wow, how nice would that be!!

Those batteries (no matter how good) arent going to charge themselves.

Like I said "There ain't no free lunch".

And there's a better chance of us living in tents than those guys.

IMHO

What does Bush have to do with batteries? And what do batteries (which must be charged from power plants) have to do with putting OPEC out of business.

Of course it will. all you have to do is buy the 20x6 "nucular" reactor and place it in your 33 foot RC trailer....Place some 000 gage wire from the annode and cathodes to the ion cube, and charge in 3 minutes to get 2 days of flying time. Best I can calculate that would be about...1000Mah per minute times 60 minutes, minus 5 minutes to pee and eat, 6 hours to sleep, ........oh nevermind....just charge while you pee and fly forever.....and besides you can power the nearest city block to support your flying habit. $$$.

Actually can you imagine placing a one pound battery in a 30% scale plane for a 15 minute routine. can you say......big foamie?

I'm guessing you are correct, but I don't think the entire "curve" of electric car developement will ever put OPEC out of business if you consider;

A- The rapid rise of auto use (and industrialization) in developing countries like China and India.

B- Electric cars must be charged by electricity generated by coal, nuclear OIL/NATURAL GAS (OPEC)

C Electric cars (like other cars) must be manufactured using energy provided by all of the above, including OPEC OIL

D- Oil industry will manipulate energy prices until they control the next generation of energy sources/vehicles etc.

E- OPEC Shieks, rather than living in tents, will be living in luxury coops in NYC, Paris, London etc. Of course, they will also maintain palatial air conditioned tents in the desert for purposes of "tradition".

ETC, ETC, YADA, YADA, YADA.

So while the batteries may be terrific, and wonderful for our hobby as well as other applications, I think the comment about OPEC and the desert was a little bit of wishful thinking.

Off my soapbox. I'm done
